Anihilation Nation [Tetris + Geometry Wars]

Archive: 1 post

Alright. SO! I've been thinking of some weird idea for the last 3 days and I may never get to making this, but it felt like something fun to put out there. The title is still in the works, but despite it being the same name as a planet in Ratchet and Clank, it fits so well. Maybe I'll focus on this or something. No idea. Anywho......

Originally, this was not like Geometry Wars or Tetris, but slowly it turned into a mix of them, sort of. It was called Facility 7, where you played as an Armageddon Robot that had struck down during Roswell and was damaged. They took it in and then tested it to see its destructive instruments. But then this came from it.

So! Below is me having some fun explaining what the idea is!

First off, there's you.

This would be your Annihilator; a machine that was made from the remnants of a downed UFO back in the year of 1947- or whenever. Seeing as how it's now the year 2155, the specifics are a little fuzzy. So anyways. This machine is what you will use to get around and eventually defeat the enemy. It has many gadgets that it can use, but it must first get the taste of war by defeating the enemies! At least that's what they want me to say. It just needs some energy and parts from the enemies. So once you have began to quench that unquenchable thirst for destruction, you will gain energy and parts. With those parts, you can make many new friends and with the energy, you can make yourself into a much more formidable killing machine!

Every Annihilator is equipped with the basics of combat: a plasma repeater to mow down your enemies, a shield to keep them from scuffing your paint job, a fill of your BB gun, and a taste of that oh-so-sweet nuclear warhead. Apologies for only supplying one, but too many resources are scattered about this time of the year, so you will have to earn more of those yourself.

On top of that warhead, you can also get yourself some perma-grades and quick-grades.

Some Perma-grades include:
- Slight speed increases.
- Max holding capacity.
- More armor.
- Better goodies.
- And even added damage by thicker shells! Who says size don't matter?!
- Plus more!

Some Quick-grades include:
- The Vortex Blade, which obliterates anyone who dares come too close to you.
- The Plasmic Shield, which is essentially an overclock of your normal shield that makes you near invincible against plasma shots for a short moment. Don't be rushing into crowds though, as they can still go through it.
- Boosters, which give a sudden jolt of power to your propulsion systems.
- And also many other secret goodies.

Unlike the Perma-grades though, you can carry Quick-grades and use them any time you wish. Just in case you happen to be in a pile of a mess!

Now what's shown isn't everything that you can buy or collect, but it gives a good idea as to what there might be.

So now that you have had a looky-loo of a few of the gadgets and upgrades for your machine, let me introduce you to the Bunkers.

http://i.gyazo.com/af68a75ecbfe8320764d2bb250fbae1a.png

First and foremost, you will always need to start your path to victory! So you must place down a bunker in order to move on with your soon-to-be-gone life. These bunkers are filled with remnants of bots which aided in the downfall of human-kind. So we must teach them who the truly 'entelechewal' being is by beating and smashing them into submission!

Upon entering the bunker (Which would be one of the shapes most would recognize from Tetris), you will meet the enemy! Ugly creatures they are. Sure they look like us, but it's what is on the inside! So! You must eliminate these enemies, including the turrets and other bonus baddies before the area is complete. Once completed, the area is yours and you earn some points/money/credits and you get a new bunker that you can place.

Now that you have an area and moolah, you can do things such as spend points/money/credits to start upgrading your section or yourself. You can build turrets, spawners for the little guys, and additional extras that you meet along the way to use in defending your area from any intruding enemies! But! Don't go spending your newly acquired riches just yet! This is just a fraction of the war you were forcibly thrown into soldier!

There she is... The motherland! If you ignore the lakes of toxic sludge, wastelands that were once thriving forests, and the occasional seven foot walking piranhas, it's actually quite a beauty! But enough of my psychological disorder of denial!

This is where it all happens pilot. As you can see by this crushing blow we had experienced not long ago, our bunkers can only be placed next to other bunkers. This is for three reasons. One, the buildings cannot sustain themselves unless they are connected to our power grid. Two, we can't use the enemy's power grid since we do not know their wireless password. And three, seven foot piranhas move in schools and they can devour an entire army in a matter of seconds. So... Don't go outside of the bunkers. Ever...... I'm serious. Don't do it.

Now one would think that a straight path to the enemy would be the best choice of action, but you would be wrong! Trying to take on the enemy unprepared will lead to a quick and utterly pathetic defeat, and we can't afford to give them energy. Especially energy from a precious Annihilator!... But good thing we got more of you pilots to just send right on back out, am I right?! That was a rhetorical question soldier. Of course I am right. But yes. Making a path straight to the enemy is like hanging a tank from a thin piece of yarn. It doesn't have much strength and will surely snap. But if you coil that string many times, it can withstand more weight! That is one of the biggest bonuses of making bunkers close to one another. They add more power to nearby bunkers and help keep the enemy at bay if they happen to breach our defenses! And if you happen to close off a small section of the wasteland, we can go in and take out those nasty walking fish and install a unit to add even more power! But the area must be surrounded in all 8 directions! We can't have those fish slipping through cracks; slippery little devils!

So I bet you are asking the question- How do we win?

Well soldier, if you would stop asking stupid questions, then maybe I would get a word in to let you know! All we need to do is get into their city and punish those who dare stand against our iron will! Then we can negotiate and acquire a new land before we can move onto any further expansion! How do we get in? Again with the stupid questions! On your Annihilator, you are equipped with what we like to call, the BB Gun, or 'Barrier Blaster Gun'. It packs quite the wallop and needs some time to recharge! You can help it charge quicker with energy, but it may be better to wait it out!

So, the BB Gun. This weapon is unique in that it can only destroy certain enemy walls. In order to successfully penetrate their barrier, we must have a similar frequency to their shields and blast away the wall while it is scrambled! And the only way we can match a similar frequency is by using a similar bunker! They are color coded after all!

What's that? What if we never match a bunker? Well our scientists are working on that as we speak! Why... They may even come up with something that's highly plot convenient, JUST as we make a wall of incompatible bunkers!

So now that you have a good idea of what to expect, how do you feel soldier? Excited? Well you should be! I'd be too if I were were in your position! But I am stuck here in the command center with this therapudic recliner and expensive herbal tea faaaar far away from any combat, and can't enjoy the thrills and rush of warfare! I will manage though.

Do enjoy yourself out there soldier. It was an honor training you!
