Touchpad, streaming, higher speed (I assume; from the ram), built in capture, and shareplay w/ firmware 2.02014-10-09 05:37:00

Built in capture? I heard there is no thermo in the PS4 version, is that true?2014-10-09 08:51:00

Built in capture?

Share button, it can take a screenshot or make a video of your last 15 minutes of gameplay.

Out of curiosity, how other than the touch pad.

Higher polygon graphics (the Checkpoint is now a perfect circle!), Share Button, DualShock 4, 1080p graphics, smoother framerate, ability to brag about you having the PS4 version of LittleBigPlanet 3

Warning: it looked like I got ninja posted before me but I refreshed and my post was before the other one.

Just the way it feels in your hand. I'm not even talking about the touchpad, it's just way easier and better to hold. Dunno how to describe it, but now that I have palyed with a DS4 I can't go back to a DS3.

Just curious. I'm getting PS4 because of this game.

But still, is there no thermometer in the PS4 version?

The thermometer is just a graphic representation of how taxing the level is on the hardware. It is technologically impossible to have the level be able to be infinite. so no, dropping the "thermometer" is completely impossible.

Due to the PS4's increased hardware, the levels aren't as taxing on the CPU so it doesn't fill up as fast. No word yet on if it's possible to make a level that is so taxing that it can only run on PS4 yet, though, from what I read...

smoother framerate,

frame-rate isn't smoother, both games are locked at 30FPS.

And to everyone else. The thermometer is likely limited exactly in the same way on both versions of the game because Sony wants you to play the same LBP3 levels on both.

I think the PS4 version will be able to hold it's framerate better in high-intensity situations though. LBP's framerate can be brought to it's knees in certain situations.

No higher speed, if you mean framerate, but it will have higher resolution (1080p).

Probably talking about faster loading, which could very well be the case.

Out of curiosity, how other than the touch pad.

The gyroscope is much better than the DualShock 3's. There's a feature where you can type on the virtual keyboard with the controller's motion sensing, and it works amazingly well.

Controller ergonomics. It just feels so much better in the hands. Also the triggers aren't crap.

Probably like 1000 new things to do with the new ps4 features, but im just going to buy it for ps3 because im not going to buy a new console that only has 1 game that i want and because these share button things are useless to me, all i want to do is play levels and waste time in create mode2014-10-10 01:17:00

I'm sure you do, it doesnt make business sense

but besides that, its just uncommon to happen, because they are 2 separate versions of a game, so im fairly sure that buying one game wont make one cheaper

Should I buy both?

I mean, if you have the money, but if you have your hands on a PS4, I would settle for that

how does PS3 data carry over to PS4?

No clue, nobody knows yet

If you are getting the PS4 for sure, then I say you should get it for PS4

not sure what anyone else thinks here on LBPC, but the benefits seem to outweigh the cons (which I dont see any of)

The con would be the multiplayer being behind a paywall on PS4 but the "free" games every month may or may not justify the cost to you.2014-10-11 01:29:00

I'm always subscribed to PS+ anyways, do you think many people will have a PS4 though?

Plenty of people. Apparently there have been 11 million PS4's sold since launch according to VGChartz but I doubt that stat is quantitative since it says less than 6 million XBox One's have been sold. And there's been debates whether or not the site is reliable but still, a ration of nearly 2:1. Anyways, I'll be purchasing mine on PS4, along with most of my PS4 friends. So I think a lot of people will.

Quick question, you know when the stuff falls down in the background and sackboy makes "That face"? is that a new emotion?2014-10-11 09:23:00

I've been wondering—do you think they've had to recreate some of the story levels to work on PS3? I can't imagine that didn't use the touch pad at all in any of the levels (with the PS4), which the ps3 wouldn't be able to play since it doesn't have a touchpad. Curious to see if we will have slightly different levels if you're playing on the PS3 or PS4 version.

Also, what if they do work out merging the PS3 and PS4 server (they haven't confirmed or denied that yet, right?) so they can play together online? Say that there is two different story level versions (when there is PS4 specific function like the touch pad), what would happen then fi you're playing online with someone on the other system? If the thermo in LBP3 is stronger because the PS4 can handle it, how did they make those levels function correctly on the PS3?

Wouldn't be surprised if the PS3 has slightly different levels.

Some games do have the digital upgrade if you buy the PS3 version, but there is no current announcement for that.

Sackboy has a variety of new animations that can be tweaked with the broadcast microchip. What you saw was probably that.

This is something I've been wondering about for the past few weeks, really. I'm torn on whether or not to buy a PS4 just for this. There are only 2 games on the system that really have my interest right now, those being LBP3 and InF:SS.

I really don't get it. Is LBP3PS4 just a ported LBP3PS3 with a few extra doo-dads attached, like the touch pad, or is the PS3 version a watered down PS4 game? No matter how you try to slice it, one of these 2 versions is a lazy port / cash grab. Just trying to figure out which one.

I think it's a continuation of the LBP2 engine, so calling it a ported PS3 game is fair. It does have sharper (1080p) graphics, so I guess the textures have all been upgraded. Because of the promised compatibility, both versions have to be functionally the same, so sticking with the PS3 is not a bad option, especially if you don't care about the share button stuff.

I wouldn't call it lazy or cashgrab, games are ported to other systems all the time, because not everyone has access to the original platform. But if you mean paying full price for both, that is kind of a cashgrab, I agree. If you get a new PC, you can still play most bought games with improved graphical settings, no extra charge.

I'm in a similar situation. I feel consoles have become more and more similar to PC's except for their freedom, and now there's a subscription required for online play, I'm not convinced I should buy into the next generation. So I'm getting LBP3 for PS3 for now. Maybe if The Last Guardian ever comes out I'll make the switch, and then I can use the LBP3 version to go online and publish stuff.

One thing to take into account is how many people can play your levels if you make it on ps4. If you make it on PS3 then everyone can play but if on PS4 you have to worry about ps4 specific features and framerate.2014-10-23 07:56:00
