Polish words guesswork!
Archive: 17 posts
Hello, guys i thought it would be funny to make a game where you are guessing Polish words since it's little known. DON'T use translator! Ok, here is first portion of the words: -Pudełko -Duch -Ptak -Dżdżownica -Drzewo -Worek Have fun! | 2014-10-07 12:09:00 Author: Pan_Ziemniak Posts: 40 |
Uhh, this should be in forum games. Anyway, here's my guesses, in respective order: -Castle -Duck but sort of ethereal -A coat? Sounds leathery. I'm gonna say belt. -Stick insect -Plants? Yes, plants -Wolf or a pack? WOLFPACK!!! (It's probably pack, though) | 2014-10-07 13:26:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |
Ok, second try and probaly second disaster: - Pudelko = dog - Duch = blanket - Ptak = package - Dżdżownica = lunch - Drzewo = big toe - Worek = wreck Ok, now I hope, that I'll have more luck than in my first trial in your introduction! Many greetings, Jürgen^^ | 2014-10-07 13:53:00 Author: CuriousSack Posts: 3981 |

Ok here is solution. You can laugh now. -Pudełko=Box -Duch=Ghost -Ptak=Bird -Dżdżownica=Earthworm -Drzewo=Tree -Worek=Sack | 2014-10-09 11:00:00 Author: Pan_Ziemniak Posts: 40 |
-Duch=Ghost -Duck but sort of ethereal Is this not half-way to being correct? Anyway, since this is a really cool concept for a forum game, it'd be a shame to let it die here. So, Finnish words guesswork? Same rules, don't look over the internet. Also: don't answer if you are Finnish: -Punainen -Lohik??rme -Kirkas -Joulukuusi -R?hn?tt?? Get guessing? What do you say? | 2014-10-09 13:00:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |
-Punainen = Finnish Footballer -Lohik??rme = Finnish Footballer -Kirkas = Finnish Ice Hockey Player -Joulukuusi = Retired Finnish Footballer -R?hn?tt?? = Retired Finnish Ice Hockey Player ..... alternatively: -Punainen - A lady's "intimate" area -Lohik??rme - I'm thinking some sort of legume type vegetable -Kirkas - A cake or biscuit of some type -Joulukuusi - A tool used to cut things -R?hn?tt?? - A word with too many umlauts (literally a Finnish word to describe a word with too many umlauts, sort of how 'hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia' is a fear of long words... you know.... irony or whatever it is) | 2014-10-09 15:56:00 Author: Ali_Star Posts: 4085 |
-Punainen-Puma? -Lohik??rme-Dog food? XD -Kirkas- Candy? xd -Joulukuusi-Tomato? -R?hn?tt??-Orange? :I | 2014-10-09 20:03:00 Author: Pan_Ziemniak Posts: 40 |
Punainen = Beetle? Lohik??rme = Cauldron? Kirkas = Glass? Joulukuusi = Cocktail? R?hn?tt?? = Snore? This is pretty fun! :kz: | 2014-10-09 20:26:00 Author: Oddmania Posts: 1305 |
Powinno być więcej takich gier w innych językach. Okay, lemme try. Punainen - potatoes? Lohik??rme - eh what? xD Kirkas - cabbage? Joulukuusi - probably something to eat, I dunno. R?hn?tt?? - a spoon? | 2014-10-09 20:47:00 Author: Schark94 Posts: 3378 |
A funny thing: R?hn?tt?? is not actually found in any dictionary, because unlike the other words on the list it was literally made up in the last couple of years. Anyway, the correct answers: -Punainen = Red (pretty close, Alistair) -Lohik??rme = A dragon (or salmon-snake, if we are being 100% literal, as lohi = salmon and k??rme = snake) -Kirkas = bright, clear or luminous (Oddmania came close) -Joulukuusi = Christmas tree -R?hn?tt?? = To sit with a bad posture I have to say, this is pretty entertaining! | 2014-10-10 12:50:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |
-R?hn?tt?? = To sit with a bad posture *Straightens back* | 2014-10-10 13:12:00 Author: Ali_Star Posts: 4085 |
I'll reel these off as fast as I can and pretend I can speak Finish in front of my classmates! Anyone up for French words? These are some of my favorite ones. ?veil Œuf Abracadabrantesque (yep, that's right). Conte (definitely not what you think it means). Citrouille Cr?puscule | 2014-10-10 14:09:00 Author: Oddmania Posts: 1305 |
?veil - obvious choice would be 'evil' Œuf - the sound you make when a ball hits you in the stomach Abracadabrantesque - magic-like, perhaps it describes when you see something that is a bit unbelievable Conte - A type of hat Citrouille - something bitter in taste? All I can think is citrus, but that seems too obvious Cr?puscule - Cr?pe is a pancake. So I'm going for a mini pancake, or maybe something akin to a filled pancake | 2014-10-10 14:32:00 Author: Ali_Star Posts: 4085 |
Cr?puscule - Cr?pe is a pancake. So I'm going for a mini pancake, or maybe something akin to a filled pancake You've made my day, thank you! Someone should invent a recipe based on that pun. | 2014-10-10 16:33:00 Author: Oddmania Posts: 1305 |
?veil - Evening Œuf - Company Abracadabrantesque - Magic trick? Conte - Crawling Citrouille - Lemon (like a citrus fruit) Cr?puscule - Mini pancake (totally came up with that myself) | 2014-10-10 20:18:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |
Ok guys, the correct answers were: ?veil → awakening (it comes from vigil, from which we get vigilant in English, "awake") Œuf → this is an egg! Abracadabrantesque → you guys got it right, something unbelievable or bewildering. Conte → a tale. Citrouille → a pumpkin. Cr?puscule → this is actually twilight | 2014-10-11 09:59:00 Author: Oddmania Posts: 1305 |
