The Goop Factory

Pretty basic platformer, but I played with things I never had before.

There will be a second part of this after the level link (please go through to complete the level) But I may complete it in LBP3.

In the meantime, this is a good time to stop and get input.

What worked for you? Anything needlessly difficult? Was it too easy? Anything you would do different?

Thanks!!!

From the picture, I'd say you need to use lighting tactics as well. Although this is just a 'tech demo', but a little tease of your lighting skills would help.

Queued.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. I really didn't mess with lighting in this level. Didn't really seem a need for it.

Was just curious to see your lighting skeelz.

Well, if anyone has any suggestions, I'm always willing to learn.

Platforming part was enjoyable, but i HATED the flying machine part, it was really confusing.
Nice Level though.

Thanks for playing it!!!

Just so I can try to make it better, what was confusing about the Wall Wheeler (Yeah, that's what I called it) part?

I the part with the gas that appears randomly ****** me off a bit, you could put timer here or something.

I died a lot in this part, but i can't wait for part 2 anyway!

Yeah, I could do something about that. Maybe a little light that comes on right before the gas pumps out.

Thanks again.

Hey Biv! I really liked your level, it had this very cute but deadly charm!

-Some parts did get difficult and tedious so i advise you to add a lot more checkpoints. Mostly after areas where the player is prone to danger and pass a very difficult section (I can't get specific considering there were various parts where i died a lot)! The most annoying part was the "Wall Wheeler" and what made it so annoying was the fact that the walls were so narrow and there wasn't much room for error. So I suggest to widen up those path ways!

-Another part from the "Wall Wheeler" was where there was invisible gas of some sort that spawned every now and then, like what Pan described, make the timer visible (if you used it) it may seem odd but it really does help the player time their move much easier! This goes for all sections that require timed movement and whatnot.

-I really did enjoy most of the gameplay tho, even if it was a bit difficult.

-Overall a really nice level! (:

Thanks for the play!! If you can think of any specific spots for checkpoints, let me know.

I'll check out your level.

Man, I thought it was too easy!!!

So:
1. See if I can cram in some more check points...hmmm...that'll take some doing. I might be able to get one in right before the Wall Wheeler. I'll have to look to see where else they can go.

2. Some sort of timer on the gas thing. I may have an idea on that.

3. Try to widen things up in the Wheeler section...I think I can do that.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm gonna be busy tonight.

BTW...did everyone find the bubbles?

Hi Biv,

I didn't play your level yet, but I will give it a try, soon! Its fine to see, that you are open for criticism, thats the best way to learn and improve your skills! Some hints are probably more easy to do (f.e.adding some checkpoints or some lights) than others! And sometimes one has to decide, whether one wants to do a lot of work in optimizing a published level, or if the hints should find consideration in a new level!
My recommendation: if you have fun in optimizing your level then optimize it, and if you start to get bored of optimizing then start a new project and have fun again!

Many greetings, Jürgen^^

Always looking for ways to improve my skills. The things people make around here make my jaw drop.

I look forward to your input.

Okay, I fixed many things. I added a checkpoint and made many changes to the wall wheeler sections, widened paths, added a timer thingy to the gas, Cleaned it up a bit to make it less confusing. Tell me what you folks think.

(Not being able to bump a thread is REALLY annoying.)

Great platformer you got here, apparently there were some issues with the wall wheeler, but you'll be happy to know that your edits made it perfect The only problem I had was all the invisible walls :o sometimes it was hard to tell where to go because certain areas look accessible. For example, with the space behind the little robots at the beginning, I thought I was supposed to run behind them (even though you had that little video at the start lol). Also, I thought the robots would be a bigger part of the level, like a clumsy robot theme thing. Maybe you could figure out a way to incorporate them more in the basement?

Speaking of basements, try my house level out sometime and see if you can get to the basement

Thanks!!! I've Queued your level, but I'm in the beta so i can't guarantee I'll get to it any time soon.

I'm very glad the Wall Wheeler changes work. I put a couple hours into those fixes.

I intended to use the robots more, but it just never happened. I imagine you'll see them more in part 2.

Thank you for playing! Tell your friends.

As the person who created it, I know how to run my own level too well to find bugs from the transfer to LBP3.

So, could you please go to "The Goop Factory" in my sig and do your darndest to break it? My goal is to have that completely LBP2 made level link into a completely LBP3 made level.

Thanks in advance.

Does the queueing system work in LBP3? If so, queued for later tomorrow. Tonight at 00:30, I begin the game!2014-11-27 15:27:00

I think so. If not, it shows up at the top in a search for Goop Factory.

Thanks

EDIT: Yeah, this is not where I wanted this. I specifically didn't put it here because it's not ready for LBP3 publishing.

Grrrrrrrrr.

Sup Biv,

Played your level man and I must of came in one you've done all the changes alright because I had no issues at all when I played through it. The gameplay was fun, lighting wasn't an issue. The difficulty was just right wasn't hard at all. Overall I think you did good job with the level, it could use some more detail but maybe it's just me. Looking forward for part 2, keep up the good work
