More real life Hazards!

This just popped into my head but I think they should have more real life hazards like quicksand, that the player gets stuck in and sinks into. Some more suggestions are geysers, Hot air, Oil, lightning, different settings for fire that affects how it looks like, materials that emmits effects on impact like for example a snow material that you can snowboard on wich makes it look like snow is spraying from under the snowboard or Lava if you snowboard on a Lava material.

Also another Idea.

It would be really cool if you could make it so when a player impacts with a material, for example snow, you can choose a custom made power-up that the player gets, for example a snowboard power-up. Maby also put in the character-change-gate properties and have these features on the material tweaker so that you can choose a character with new abilities and a power-up, as soon as the player touch the new material.

this would enable you to make a snowboard character that acts normal on all materials exept snow where it gets a snow board and some new abilities for making front-flips/back-flips.

What do you think. Tell me if you have more suggestions on Hazards or functions!

I'm really excited about the power-up creator. Your hazard ideas sound pretty awesome too. I wish we could have things like acid, or goop. I guess we wouldn't really need anymore hazards, since their job's just to kill the player. However, having more animations would be really cool.2014-10-05 21:21:00

Most of those powers can actually be made with some logic.

Quicksand would use the tweaker that makes things able to be gone through, mixed with logic to keep the player from jumping higher and higher until they suffocate. A object hidden in the sand would be what lowers them.

For the snowboard, a sticker on invisible material (Messed with to make it look right) and emitters that shoot out custom made snow from behind.

For the instant power-up with contact with a material, you can use an impact sensor and the above way to get the player on the board. Possibly use holo to time the impact and appearance of the board correctly.

And then front/back flips can be done via an advanced rotator mixed with sequencers and other logic.

So we don't have to make the logic. I'd like to have the hazard quickly accessible for me to use. Logic though isn't a problem can become wasteful on the thermometer.

With the new features I've seen, you could easily make your own quicksand or snowboard switch with the tools provided. But I guess you want a realistic sand whirlpool? In which case we would need a quicksand material.2014-10-11 00:41:00

We're talking like, a micro-notch of space on the thermometer with the workarounds. And you only have to make it once, save it, then edit it when you want to reuse it.

Now I think THAT would take up some thermo to be able to do with logic, or a material in general.

Every little bit counts towards that faster loading, smoother frame rate and else it impacts... Having one pre-made for us is likely to look visually and function better. And there are benefits of not having to spend time on logic and an additional capture in your popit.
