Power Up Custom Curiosity!

Archive: 8 posts

So far we only seen a little of the custom power up, but can we edit carry our power up is the real question

Does LBP 3 allow us to use a pair of two things (like a made sword & shield) in a costume power up?
If we can then is it possible to edit which side sack boy or girl can carry the power up?
(Update) The last thing l'm curious about is can we make power up interact with each other? Like for example two sackboy crossing sword

If this is on LBP 3 man it'll be so awesome and plus you will have a built in inventory, so player will be able to switch weapon or just unequip it

I'd guess so. Seems like it would be a silly oversight to not include options for wielding a powerup in the left/right hand.2014-09-27 03:28:00

What about multiple items as unique pieces, as long as they don't require the same button? For example, a pair of Double-Jump Boots used with X, a Pumpinator used with R1, and a Grappling Hook-Hat used with L1. Will the sky be the limit?2014-09-27 04:38:00

It would be good if you can put the power-up on sackboy's head, feet etc2014-09-28 10:25:00

IIRC, in the Create Mode Demo, when the Sackpocket was opened in the Powerup Pedestal, I think I saw some shoes and hats...and a dead Sackboy's head. What is that even there for?

They could have a "POWERUP LIMB" setting where the powerup can go to

ANY FREE LIMB
ANY FREE ARM
ANY FREE LEG
RIGHT/LEFT ARM/LEG (replace? y/n?)
And options for anywhere else where suitable

This is my "best case" idea for this

The problem with being able to have something in both hands (sword in one and shield in the other) is that the code would have to have some way of deciding when the player wishes to do something else like climb or swing. IF we could have an 'equip' and 'unequip' state then I can see an easy workaround but at the moment it appears as if you can only choose your weapons via the power up wheel or the traditional way. We definitely need that 'equip/unequip' state, otherwise the two handed powerup will be impossible.

The workaround would be to tie the 'equip/unequip' state to a button related to climbing, grabbing or swinging so that when you performed those tasks it automatically unequips the shield and then when you jump free, it re-equips it. If we had those two states we could also make it so that we could unequip and re-equip with a simple button push.

The equip & unequip? Well fun fact there's a built in inventory on LBP 3 and also you can make your own inventory, so it possible
