Animal Zoo! (my first platform/adventure level, looking for some feedback :D)

Archive: 7 posts

I'm about 90% done, but this is just Part 1... but still i'm not sure if I could spare the time to make another 1 or 2 parts but I have lots of ideas worked out on paper.

My main idea with this level is to let the player explore the Zoo as they wish. They can talk to the generally disgruntled animals, help them with their problems (which they'll be heftily rewarded for) or just go with the flow and take it as a flatformer.

Pretty much all the animals are custom made with as much character as I could squeeze, and pretty much all of them are p*ssed off.... cept for old Sloth ^^

Just looking for some feedback and constructive criticism and if you guys have any animal requests or ideas that should go into this blarg away!

the entrance of course!

Dracula (???)

Paranoid Schizo Smokin Polar bear

If you talk to Dracula you get his nicotine patch as a sticker. Then stick it on polar bears arm and voila... hes off the smokes... for now

The blissfully out of it Sloth

Well, I've got to say I love the visual flair. Just seems. LBPish.

I would also like the idea of wandering a zoo too... So, um, yeah. You have wolves in there by any chance...? I love wolves and dogs >_<.

hehe ye I wanted to create something bright and fun, but with really twisted animals in it...

hmmm actually that just reminded me I was experimenting with these mental frogs I made, they jump along and you can ride them, but this one frog did this crazy flip and landed everytime. Maybe I could have a backflipping terrier dog, or hyaena's even, they're class.

Just finished the final section! I'm pretty happy with it, but it still needs polishing.

Also I'm gonna put a fail safe checkpoint at the end. I have a Zipline to the end of the level and if the player falls he won't be able to complete it. So i'm gonna have to use a piston on a check point to flick it over to the scoreboard.

The last section has a lot more momentum then the rest of the level which is more about exploring. Basically its the monkey area, so a lot of swingin' from monkey to monkey ^^

also the end isn't just a zipline... its a zipline monkey >_> plus a nice surprise at the end.

It should be up tomorrow, so long as I dont get bogged down with stuff... I'll probably make a level showcase thread cause project threads dont see the light of day........unless they're big:arg:2009-02-25 23:04:00
