Add new editing update

Archive: 8 posts

I would like to see the ability to 'cut' at an angle. Example: make a square and have the ability to 'cut' a single corner off (leaving a triangle slice). Instead of creating the same piece with 7 pieces (6 for the square and 1 for the sliced corner).
Adding this ability will speed up creations and influence more creativity.
Within this 'update', I would also like to see an extra 'video' explaining how to use.
Making it part of the whole game.
It's easier to add a 'code' and update (cost wise).
Then to make an entirely new game.
Also doubling the thermo would be awsome.

You can cut in the current editor. Just use triangle to erase sections with the shape.2014-09-23 01:23:00

I know you can edit shapes. Right now when you create a basic square it has 8 corners. I would like to see an update where you can angle edit so you can cut only 1 of the 8 corners off (currently you have to slice/cut through the whole object).2014-09-23 18:29:00

So the 'Corner Edit' tool that is available in every other LittleBigPlanet game?

Ah, I understand. Yes, it would be nice if we had a true 3D editor. Right now we have to jump through hoops to make 3D objects to our specifications in our glorified 2D editor.

Dont get me wrong. The "tools" we have in this game are amazing, the ability to create fully functioning multiplayer levels is outstanding.

But talking 'code' wise. It wouldnt be that hard to write an update to add 3d editing. The 'code' already uses an 'X,Y,Z' plotting for object shape and size (direction and path with motors).
If they added another "piece" (sort of like a force field) that can be angled, tilted, shaped that 'cuts out' over lapped area, it would save on 'X,Y,Z' double plotting.
Example: A square shell with an empty inside (just the outline). This can be created many ways, A almost flat square with a smaller square cutting out the inside, then copying it 5 more times angling each 90 degrees from the next (top, bottom, sides) aligning each to 'match' sides.
Once done that is alot of 'extra' geometry. Each "almost flat square" has a 'top and bottom' which are used in end product. but the '4 outside sides' become 'extra' in end product. So, you will have 24 extra 'X,Y,Z' plots for those 'hidden' sides.
If we had the ability to create a box, then use the 'new tool' to create a longer square that will cut out the inside (one side to the other) then tilt 90 degrees and cut again, spin and cut again. we would have the same 'object' as mentioned but with alot less geometry.
The end product would take up less "thermo", less overall memory use, and less ingame calculations.
Also as a bonus, the learning curve to create detailed objects would be improved.

I've see "New sackboy package downloads' on the ps store... That itself is 'new code' (adding to old code).
Why cant the 'people that want to create levels' get an update too?

What we are given is iron, steel and bronze, all we ask for is sackboy gloves (extra updates) to smelt and forge it.

Just please don't create a Lbpk2, with that editing update.
Instead of using the 'budget/money' to market and publish a new 'LBPK2' game, use half/quarter that budget and remaket 'LBPK'.
Everything you need, is a click away from being a 'revamped LBPK viral blast'.
If you had a 'team' that went through all the levels (every single one published -estimated over 200,000-) and let them pick out as many functioning onces as possible, lets say 1/10th. Thats 20,000 (and growing) functioning/playable levels! Wait what?
Think of the variety of levels within those 20,000. What other game has such a high number of different styles (race, battle, flying, tower-defence, rpg, side-scroller, fps... the list goes onto all types) within one game? (besides the 'lbp family' and the 'big M&apos
Advertise that!
*numbers were used on the extreme low end of 'functioning levels'

Adding the few "tweak updates" the community asks for will inhance overall game performace and experiance for new/retrying players.
More variety of playing = more people playing + creating = more levels, bigger community = more people online = better online experiance = more intrest in purchasing (already existing) 'sackboy skins' = bonus money/revenue from game. (I'd rather spend .10 cents on a 'sackboy skin', than "$15.00 on an equipment slot upgrade")
If you have an increase of 100 people that have at least $1.00/change in their ps-wallet, they would be more willing to 'spend' it +.10c on the game they are playing. 1,2,3... 40, 50, 60 cents.

It's all plus plus plus
We like you, you like us.

If anybody reading this has any suggestion on what 'updates' they should consider, please post.

I agree with pretty much everything you have wrote. But lets face it, players won't get an update and there certainly isn't going to be a sequel. I actually don't think the developers care that much, if they had the create mode would have been so much better and they would still be rolling updates out with new content like MM have for LittleBigPlanet 1 and 2. United Front Games don't deserve to be involved with the franchise.

You can't put this all on UFG, it's Sony who ultimately calls the shots here. We don't know what precisely went on, maybe Sony estimated it wouldn't make enough money and pulled the plug, maybe some other project was prioritised and developers were pulled from LBPK. But I'm pretty sure every developer wants to deliver a product they can be proud of.2014-09-24 11:48:00
