Not officially. But there may be some community ones if you search. A tip for better detail is below. I've used this technique many times.

Create Mode > Popit > Sackbot > Place. Make it as large as possible. Tweak it and change its animation to sackboy to keep still. Go to the top of the tweak window and select choose costume. Pick your clothing and pop some stickers and decorations on there. Also 'L1' and 'R1' to turn the sackbot.

if you want to make it very large, for small details and such, it's good to have this with you always

There never was any official tutorials for costume creation. It comes down to how well you can make them and what techniques you use. I'm not very good, though my character is usually undressed.

Well there are tutorials on how to make specific costumes. "How to make Batman, Superman etc..." Okay one tip, is to of course put on the right clothes for your sackboy, and put on the right stickers. Another tip is to open your pop-it, take out a sticker, and press R1 or L1, to turn your sackboy to put stickers on the back and sides.

Well if we're talking about actual costume creating, then there's a lot you need to take into consideration regarding your designs.

As for tips, well... I suppose these can help:

- Familiarize yourself with as many costumes, stickers, and decorations as you can.
- Know what you want to create before decorating.
- Costumes should work in the universe they are in.
- Not everything you want to make is possible; sometimes, you need to give your idea a tweak.

Although, if you're just talking about wearing a costume to run around in, then that's all you. You can wear whatever.

Arm yourself with as many texture and decorative custom stickers that you can, have a sketch of the costume in mind, use large sized sackbots to be able to mash in detail, start decorating on a sackbot set to act, and to a different animation style so it stands perfectly still, and steer clear of shortcuts (it makes the costume look cheaply, and quickly made)

and most of all BE CREATIVE (don't use green; green is not a creative color)

What shortcuts should I avoid?

People are making you over think this. Large sackbot, clothes, choose your stickers. There's not much to it, people saying you need to take into account all of these things mentioned above are being pretentious. Don't overthink it.

He's actually over-thinking it himself. We can't force him to over-think it. It really all depends on how detailed or specific he wants his costumes to be.

Depending on the level of complexity and what he needs, it is either as simple as slapping on something to run around in, or as complicated as planning an entire wardrobe (Either for one character or an entire cast) to fit things such as theme/setting/needs/ect.

It's not being pretentious, it's the degree of his needs that we do not know.
