Can someone explain to me what "gamejam" is? I haven't seen this before. Essentially, a whole lotta fun between the developers and some very lucky community members. You'll probably see the fruits of their labour in upcoming promotional content and a thread of information overload if past game jams are anything to go by. Don't quote me on it though. | 2014-09-13 15:10:00 Author: ForgottenEnigma Posts: 1414 |

I can understand why you might think Peanuts are superior. Anyway, I notice that gevurah22/ donkey show was on there. I thought he was working on LBP3 as a level designer? Hope they give us a very detailed run down of all the new tools and create stuff. As a creator I prefer to know how everything works far ahead of time so I can have a good head start in general with my level/game planing. *mew Edit: Never mind. Everything is being shown off on twitter already from the game jam people. So shouldn't be to long before it's all put together on a fact page. | 2014-09-13 21:57:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |

Rialrees shared a few snaps on her twitter account. A lot of cool new features. Including a water object (possibly able to swim in), sackbot animations, loads of new effects. Not that I'm ever gonna use these things since my design skills are very limited, but hey, I'm excited. There's a post I found on Neogaf with a lot of info. Here it is - http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=129861251&postcount=1 | 2014-09-14 11:53:00 Author: Ali_Star Posts: 4085 |

lol I was a photo taking demon last night! Ran out of steam in the end I wish I could have just sat and photographed the whole of create mode.... in fact I was pretty tempted at one point lol - going to try and sum up as many of my thoughts on create as I can tonight, while I have peace and quiet in the house In all seriousness, I'm so glad that the news we shared with you guys is helping you feel happy and excited for lbp3 (which you totally should be btw, because it is seriously all kinds of awesome. I mean... seriously. Geez.) - I remember back in the Vita Gamejam, we all got kind of carried away, and whilst we shared what we could with you all after the event, I know people would have been happier to know right away - I think thats what caused my twitter explosion last night lol! No bed for me! WRITING to do! x | 2014-09-14 23:40:00 Author: rialrees Posts: 1015 |

No bed for me! WRITING to do! x One picture shows a giant cat creature ... is that fully animated? In short, can we create our own characters? I've got so many questions, I don't know where to start. The cat seemed the logical place! Oh, and in the banana nunchuck vine, we see the gorilla explode into what appears to be confetti. Are there other such effects we can apply to characters? With the transmit logic, can you alter the values at it's destination ... how to explain? Let's say I have some lift logic that I want to beam across my level, and I have several lifts in that level, but some have more floors than others, can I alter the value of the transmission on reaching the lift so that it works with 3 or 5 or 7 floors? And what's this? https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BxdyBtUIUAAM5N5.jpg:large | 2014-09-14 23:54:00 Author: GribbleGrunger Posts: 3910 |
One picture shows a giant cat creature ... is that fully animated? In short, can we create our own characters? I've got so many questions, I don't know where to start. The cat seemed the logical place! If this is the creepy bunny - and I think it might be... I have some insider info on that one for you. The bunny (the main body of the creepy cat bunny mutant) was an already scary looking object I found in the goody bag. All the other items and stickers are the exquisite work of Jackofcourse. Any time any of us left a controller unattended, he leapt on our levels and started making silly things But back to the question, You could totally create your own characters - you could even do so with a sackbot as the base, or just objects - In just 24 hours, Scarybiscuit came up with a very cool top down snowman, with a floppy top hat and fully functional hatchet. (cough). There are animators and movers and sensors galore - 24 hours can only show so much, but I promise you that there are so many more tools available, you would totally be able to create, animate, and bring your own characters to life much easier than before. I'll try to go into as much detail on these tools as I can, and I know sackinima and rocketcheetah are working on some cool news to show to you guys soon too Oh, and in the banana nunchuck vine, we see the gorilla explode into what appears to be confetti. Are there other such effects we can apply to characters? There are a few new animations, the one you saw was a basic death animation known as 'confetti' - but. The character animator is your friend. It contains.... I'm going to have to pause for dramatic effect here..... EVERY. animation. that sackboy. possesses. You want a death? Make one. There's a kill tweaker in the game. I haven't played with it a great deal yet, but theoretically, you could use a kill tweaker, and attach your own animation to trigger on death. In my head, at the moment, I see this as totally doable. The transmit logic(Broadcast chip) is a huge tool - but how it will alter will come down to how you set your logic up to begin with. The chip can broadcast to a character, a tagged object, a player, a sackbot.... basically anything. But say you have three lifts. They're all red objects. You want them to sense what floor they're on, when they're at the top etc. If you build your logic with sensors for top floor and bottom floor, limiting their movement, i suppose you could use one chip for all of them. Or if your mind melts at the thought (as mine is currently lol) then you could simply give each elevator a different tag, with multiple broadcasting chips. Kind of defeats the object in this scenario, but you could essentially build a level with many, many bchips, all broadcasting to different sets of objects throughout the level. How adaptable those chips will be will depend on how you set them up Hope that answers a little for now | 2014-09-15 00:09:00 Author: rialrees Posts: 1015 |
And what's this? https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BxdyBtUIUAAM5N5.jpg:large If you read the later replied the guy who posted that was tired and misunderstood a question about costumes I asked him. Far as I understand that pic is just him placing a deco on the back of his sackdoll just like we could on LBP1 & 2. *mew | 2014-09-15 00:12:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |

Looks like the broadcast logic chip will help cut down on a lot of spaghetti. Could you expand a little on the special effects? I don't want to ask too much tonight because I know you're cream crackered. I saw Northern Lights and a flame (I think) but could you perhaps list a few others and explain how you would use them. Are they 2D or 2.5D? I like the idea of earning points (can't recall the name they used) for costumes. Is that something they use for ALL the costumes because I think it's a great way of motivating a more thorough playthrough. | 2014-09-15 00:18:00 Author: GribbleGrunger Posts: 3910 |

Had amazing time at the gamesjam only wish I had more time, saw some amazing things and so many tools and the endless options you can create I think this could be the version which offers everything to everyone amazing affects for graphic junkies and if you like your logic you will be lost for months. On one last note really the best thing was meeting like minded creators which often you forget that real people are behind those icon. nice to meet rialrees and thanks to steveni and sumo for a unforgettable weekend in a sureal world of little big planet. And if your interested a short clip of a early version of my level about 6 hours into the jam https://vine.co/v/OarWWOn6Q1O scarybiscuit @scarybiscuitlbp | 2014-09-15 11:53:00 Author: scarybiscuit Posts: 106 |

there were camera crews EVERYWHERE. i think they're hoping to get the video done is a few weeks. *Prepares to hide in a darkened room for the rest of the year* EDIT: there was actually only one crew. but it felt like they were omniscient. every time i made a silly face, there they were. | 2014-09-15 14:01:00 Author: rialrees Posts: 1015 |

I'm seeing a few lurkers who have probably slept better than they ever have and are now fully refreshed and ready to answer questions. So with that in mind: Tell us a little bit about the special effects ... please. I'm assuming the bottom pic, top right are tar bubbles? Its odd that you can't change their colour because the would have been useful for creating other effects too. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bxb96zpIEAEFNvQ.jpg:large https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bxb4hwVIEAAlrtR.jpg:large | 2014-09-15 21:34:00 Author: GribbleGrunger Posts: 3910 |
