Cool Page in Front Again

Archive: 11 posts

Hi guys, before I start off, I just want to say all my data from lbp2 is gone, so Ill have to recreate my levels. Anyway, I think the cool page should be back in the front menu because in my opinion its way better than lucky dip. Because it lets us get more activity faster. With lucky dip, it felt like only 1,000 were playing the game.Instead, steveni should make some changes to the cool page. First of all, only a maximum of 2 levels or 1 levels could get their from 1 author or ps3, even with lucky dip, many spammers still appeared on there, it was worse for everyone. The people who made could onLy get 2 levels on cool page every week.I know that copying isn't going away, but I think it should have some changes.Ex:If a copied level gets on cool page, and a created level does too, and they both have the same yay count in equal timeframe, the created level kicks the copied one down one spot. Doubt any changes will be made to the LBP system, and cool pages are gone all together in LBP3.2014-09-15 19:33:00

The idea of cool pages is brilliant... but in practice... it almost always fails catastrophically.

When you go to look for a 'cool' new level to play, what you are given is pages of garbage.

I actually enjoyed using the lucky dip, so I do hope it remains, but I do agree that it should not be the main focus.

I understand that in the 'News' section of LBP2, the community picks from sites such as LBPC were promoted, I think these levels (with the help of fansites like this) should be promoted much more. Similar to 'Mm Picks' but collected from reputable community sites like this.

Cool pages are garbage now because there was no way of down rated a level. No down rating, the game thinks it's good and it's on teh pagez2014-09-18 01:20:00

not voting/playing for a level is the same as booing, but people rating it good, and playing it shows they want the spam, hence the majority of people getting plays into levels, are generating spam in the lists, its not the rating system at fault, more creators than spammers would remove this problem, but a bigger community never really allows for discretion (and that has its upsides as well) I mean, we cant restrict lbp3, so filtering is fundamentally flawed for people who have a different preference to those people that make up the majority (which also like spam)

not voting does nothing i think. when you boo, the game think its bad. when you yay, the game thinks its good. plays dont really mean anything, its the ratio between yays and boos.

The boos are like yin and yang. when you take away yang, you gotta either bring it back or take away yin.

I agree with this because

The cool pages didn't get ruined because it's a bad idea, it got ruined (if you think of it that way) because of the content amount, and the content preference of the people

So what should we do? (in my opinion?)

Have a kind of "level type preference" filter that you can apply to the cool pages so that the content preference piece of the pie gets adjusted, that way all you have left is the content being produced for it (which entirely dependent on you brilliant folks)
