Will there be a X Y and Z axis?

Was wondering will this game be a only horizontal and vertical type game or will we get a type of 3-D game where we can curve things like a highway2014-09-01 19:39:00

X, Y and Z axis have been present since LBP1.
Will we be able to edit the Z axis? I'm not sure; possibly. but only from the top side I imagine. The bendy rail (seen in the trailer) can be curved through any axis. The arc on the layer-launcher (bounce pad) can also be edited through the X, Y and Z axis.

We won't be able to edit the Z-axis to the same extent as the X or Y axes, but there will be a lot of new tools to expand upon it's use, like the Slide (which can also be used to make smooth slopes/angled designs between layers) in addition to the things that wally already mentioned. One other interesting thing to note is that through the power of tools that probably haven't been explicitly shown yet, Sackboy can be tweaked to run through the Z-axis in a way that appears to be as smooth as when he runs left to right.
