I would like to see a tool that would change the material of something while in play mode, for decoration, and the fact that different materials have different properties.

It certainly beats emitters. It reminds me of that game Quantum Conundrum. I'm in full support of this idea. I would actually be surprised if it hasn't already been added since it would be so useful.

Yeah I loved quantum conundrum. Making a level like that with a material changinator would be really easy and fun!
