Fish Fight! (BE the fish!)

Archive: 12 posts

Hi, folks! Just finished a battle level that I've been working on for months off and on. (I like to have a few going at once) It's called "Fish Fight!" It's a custom karter with no cockpit and custom handling and sound to present an underwater atmosphere. It's a fish eat fish world. Except most fish don't also fire high powered seeking clams and, to be honest, none of these fish are actually eating each other, so, maybe it's not exactly a "fish eat fish world" after all. But it is a lot of fun, anyway.

I'd provide pictures, but it's being all janky.

Glad you liked it, Scorp. I saw the thing about empty Weaponators. Weird. I'll check it out. I did notice a couple of time that I would get a shockwave, but it would just go click and disappear from the well. Not sure what would cause that.
One definitely bizarre thing is that if you hit replay to play it again the fish get all tiny.

Do you actually have the 'fish' floating using gyroscopes etc or is it done with a little forcefield material trickery like Sacksbyville is?

It's done with a lot of force field trickery and a handling tweaker. Is that how you did the bees? That's a fun track. Didn't really care if I was winning or not, just had fun zooming around.

Exactly how I did it, including the hours and hours spent using forcefield material for the 'invisible' fencing to stop you flying, or buzzing, off the track. Shame it hasn't had too many plays, I really enjoyed making that one, I honestly thought it would've been better received. Got an honourable mention though and to bee honest I make all my levels because I enjoy making them!

Try the new one, just published,

It's already in the que.
Yea, I'm glad force field isn't a limited resource, I used so much of it. I had to put it all along the outer terrain walls too as every time a fish would run into it, it would get stuck or go through, or to stop it from jumping into the scenery on the surface and getting stuck. Then to reduce the thermo I captured it all and made an emitter to put it all in place. Did the same with the water surface.
I know what you mean, though. Sometimes it seems like a hollow achievement when you spend a lot of time on a level and months go by with very few plays. Oh well. It's all about doing it, really.

No doubt about it, got this game when it came on to PS+. Finished story mode then thought I'd have a bash at creating something. Looks like I was about a year too late to get any serious plays, no matter.
Don't know whether you've read any of the stuff I've been putting up regarding a small competition I'm trying to organise. Just confirming things with the guys on LBPCentral as to the correct way of doing things, the thread is here Competition Suggestion, have a look and see if you want to join in!

Very fun arena. The design was excellent. My only complaint is that the level is almost too big, makes it so to spend a lot of time without seeing anybody. Spamming homing rockets into nothingness was a strong strategy to get a lot of kills.2014-08-24 21:56:00

Unfortunately, I would have to agree with you there. By the time I came to that conclusion myself, it was too late to make it smaller without starting all over again and I had already put a lot of time into it to get that far. That's why there are so many seeking weapons, which helps, but it makes it difficult to fully utilize the weaponized piranha.
