Hello Sackfolk and welcome to my next project.

Going back a few years I was very involved with electronics so working from that angle I knew I could reproduce some fairly accurate components. But how to incorporate them into a level? Pictures so far below.

I'd really appreciate any suggestions for custom weapons, I've already done the karts.

More updates soon, am currently messing about with bits of track that will possibly be 'inserted' during the level by robotic arms.

Sounds good.
For custom weapons i suggest your small Operational Amplicator, a floppy disc (already saw in a level from Magicalhamster), the electric resistance you already built...

Yes I played that level a while ago, I'd forgotten about it. I don't really want to copy other people's creative ideas.

The chip is a good idea as a 'dropped' weapon, thanks.

Any other ideas Sackfolk?

Wow, already out and well into another track? You're a machine.

The parts are looking excellent so far, really looks like a circuit board. As for unique custom weapons with a circuitry flare? Maybe a skitter mine, a dropped weapon that will move around a small area after released. Or a turret mine, that shoots electricity at people that are close by. I also think a "short circuit rocket" would be interesting if you can pull it off - a rocket that randomly shoots electricity out around it as it flies (maybe a broken piece of wire). How about a bouncing, multiplying spark - a lobbed bomb with low height and many bounces that will shoot off another one alternating between 1'Oclock and 11'Oclock angles on bounces.

Weapons are fun. I need to make a real track so that I can make more weapons...

To be fair, the component design has been ongoing for some time, I just couldn't decide how I wanted the track. Then I remembered the PVC pillars used to separate circuit boards sometimes and that gave me this idea. You can't see that part of track on the pictures but there is a triple layer section connected by flat ribbon cable.

All your weapon ideas are great, thanks for the ideas especially the 'broken wire', I really like that and it fits into the theme nicely!

Wow, nice! How'd you make that ribbon cable look so accurate?2014-08-21 23:44:00

Wow, nice! How'd you make that ribbon cable look so accurate?

It's just the striped fabric trimmed down to be almost as thin as possible, which gets rid of the stitching line, and self designed connector blocks attached. The curved section is done exactly the same way but using a sticker template, again made as thin as possible. Simples!

Some updates....

1.Have managed to get a fairly good robotic arm going to insert a section of track (circuit board). This doesn't start working though until later in the level and there is a bounce pad hidden within that piece....maybe a bubble to reach? !

2.The square 'chip' you can see (just about) in the background of the pic above is fitted with a little jeopardy jump, if the green LED is lit then no problem and you'll bounce into the centre of the chip, pick up a very handy score bonus and bounce out again. Should the red LED be lit or change to red before you get to bounce out again, you get zapped! The switchover between red and green is randomised so you have to take your chances, it is biased towards green though.

3.Another robotic arm now moves over to a terminal block and undoes a screw allowing access to a different route, haven't decided which lap this will be available yet.

Have managed to create a couple of nice custom weapons thanks to suggestions. I have the 'broken wire' which not only targets the player ahead but also drops sparks which are also deadly....but you'll need to be careful how you use it, its a short circuiting piece of wire after all! (Action pic below). Yes, thats Sackboy (me) getting blown up after firing the 'broken wire' weapon......maybe I should have swerved to miss the dropped sparks or shot it backwards?

Also have a 'walking' chip, just as it sounds, a dropped weapon that walks around but acts like a mine.

More updates soon

Now ...that ...sounds ... AWESOME!!!

Thanks, I'm really enjoying this build. It's something I know about, which helps! Incorporating my electronics component knowledge into a karting level has been more than fun so far. With the suggestions for the weapons, I (humbly) think this could be one of my best tracks so far. Hope the karting community feels the same when it's published!

I've kept the karts as simple (relatively) as possible to avoid slowdown so this might also be my first 8 player.

With the thermo already getting high, it might just be scenery to complete this, so possibly tomorrow or Sunday before you can have a go!

Edit: Level now published, but you can check out more pictures in the Showcase section

Man be carrefull, you dangerously approches the range of 30 published levels!!!

I have another 28 on My Moon, some of which are partially built, some ideas that I liked and started but didn't have the experience to finish, a couple of design studio levels where I create most of my objects and levels I've unpublished because karters haven't really played them.

I suspect I'll be doing the same as Stef (dsmmat) shortly and creating a new account though I haven't had the same publicity she has with her excellent team picked levels. Maybe just unpublish some of the older ones?

It's a real shame with LBPKarting that creators can't build together, I suspect there would be some truly outstanding tracks. Two heads are better than one is the phrase, but imagine 4 or 8!

If any newbies to karting are interested I'd be happy to give away some of the partially built levels with a view to helping THEM finish them off and with the help of the community via the forums obviously.
