Analog Signals Above 100% and Below -100%

Most people will only use analog values between -100% to 100%. However, I have found a way to make an analog value above 100%, which will allow you to create analog signals out of the usual range an analog signal can be in.

To create a signal above 100%, use the Score Sensor, set the maximum value to 10, and create a Score Tweaker that adds 20 points. Then attach the Score Sensor to a Memorizer set to a Label. Create a timer that connects to the bottom left input of the Memorizer. Switch to Play Mode, wait four seconds or more until the saving icon disappears, then switch to Create Mode and connect the output of the Memorizer to an OR gate that loops to itself. Then, capture the OR gate. You will now have a 200% signal.

The AND gate's "Multiply Values" analog mode works properly with signals out of the normal range of -100% to 100%.

However, there is a bug with the OR gate's "Add Values" analog mode, is that the output is limited to the range of -100% to 100%. To work around this bug you will need an Analog Adder microchip. A basic analog adder is made by adding three direction combiners and an analog signal above 100%. Then connect the analog signal to the top inputs of the first and third Combiners, and connect the first and second combiners to the top and bottom inputs of the second and third combiners respectively. Now connect two microchip inputs to the remaining input of the first and second combiners respectively, and then connect the output of the last combiner outside of the microchip.

Infinte signal values
Yes, you can have an infinite value signal in LittleBigPlanet using AND Gates. A postivite infinite analog value is the highest value LittleBigPlanet can handle, and the negative infinite value is the lowest value.
First, find a signal higher than 100%.
Second, link the signal to an AND Gate set to "Multiply Values".
Third, add a Battery, and link the output of the Battery to the AND Gate.
Fourth, link the AND Gate to itself, without overwriting the output of the 100%+ signal.
Fifth, wait a few seconds for the signal to exceed the maximum value that LittleBigPlanet can handle. Due to a game bug, the signal will say "inf%              " on a note.

Uses for these values:

You can use an infinite analog signal to break animations on materials and decorations. If you connect an infinite signal to an animated material and set it to "Dimmer", then the material will become black. If you send it for a few frames then the animation will break and the material will lose all texture.

As said earlier you can create adders that add signals and does not get cut off above 100%.


*You can force any timer set to speed scale to fill completely by using an infinite analog value, or to fill up faster than usual by using an analog value above 100%. Similarly, you can force a Sequencer set to Speed Scale to go faster than usual or instantly go to the end by using an analog value above 100%.
*You can connect an analog value to a timer set to Positional and 0 seconds and it will output the absolute value of the input.
*You can save analog values above 100% and below -100% in a Memorizer. Now you can store even more digital values in a single label than ever!
*For some weird reason, you can get killed from a Sackbot with the left stick being given an infinite value signal. Try to use this in LittleBigPlanet 2 to prevent players from capturing your level for malicious purposes.
*You can force a motor bolt set to Speed Scale to break on command by giving an infinite signal.
*Try connecting the analog signals to materials to see what happens. It may change brightness or more.
*Need an object to never rotate from the original angle you set it? Connect an infinite signal to a Rotator set to Strength scale and zero speed.
*You can safely transfer signals above 100% and below -100% using Tags.
*Try distorting physics using Thrusters. Objects near the Thruster will move along with the Thruster.

Yes, you can have an infinite value signal in LittleBigPlanet 2 using AND Gates. When using infinite signals the game glitches out though.
First, find a signal higher than 100%.
Second, link the signal to an AND Gate set to "Multiply Values".

Fifth, wait a few seconds for the signal to build up. The signal will say "inf%              " on a note.

All it really takes is any signal to get over (2-2^-23)*2^127, because LBP cant handle a signal higher than that, because of the 32 bit E-MAX; it cant reach 8 bits of exponentiational power without converting to an infinite signal, because it can't handle a higher signal

In short

LBP PS3 calculation limit + any % = infinity, due to exception handling

I know some applications for the signals above 100%. This is one of them: Oversaturated material colors (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=90355-Oversaturated-material-colors-no-DLC-lava-alternative-and-another-cool-effects).
And, of course, you can use them to achieve lots of advanced logic systems, like binary compressors, health systems and many others. I recommend you to get some higher than 100% signals and plug them on anything (materials, movers, bolts, controllinator inputs on a sackbot, timers...) so you can see by yourself why they are useful.

Hello and welcome to the Forums! There are reasons I captured a microchip containing signal values above 100%. Also, I have put a picture of what happens to animated materials when they receive an infinite signal when set to "Dimmer". This also happens on the PS3.
