Questions about Move/Cross controller packs
Archive: 11 posts
Hey guys I had a few questions about these DLC packs that I'm hoping to get some answers on. What useful create tools are hidden in these packs? I know that the move pack comes with new music sequencer sounds, and one of them comes with the sticker panel material, besides the obvious movinator and vitanator. How many of these tools can be obtained without the required peripherals (if any?) I searched but I found conflicting reports. How does the sticker panel work? My understanding is that it behaves like a hologram that has no lighting effect yet appears against any background, right? If you take a photo and put it on the sticker material does it crop out the black edges or do you have to do it manually? If I plan to make a very sprite intensive level is sticker panel a better material to use over hologram? Or would the extra vertices from having to crop all the sprites properly cause more lag than the light from holgrams? Thanks | 2014-08-16 23:36:00 Author: JFM2796 Posts: 14 |

Thanks Besides what you wrote mostly new materials, objects, music, some costumes I believe. Sticker Panel does in fact function like Hologram. Yes, the material won't show black on areas the picture is not placed but it will not crop unless you use the crop tool. I no longer use Hologram because I have Sticker Panel (it looks better, you achieve a cleaner visuals with it.) The small problem with Sticker Panel is if you use too much, a ridiculous amount, like I. When so, a flicker with the texture occurs but is rare (I've came across it 3 or 4 times.) Easy fix, organise and remove obsolete items. I hope this answered your questions. I'll reply if you have any more. | 2014-08-17 04:13:00 Author: SEWO97 Posts: 637 |
No, it's not exactly like hologram. Black hologram becomes transparent, but sticker panel can still display black, and it has an opacity setting to make it transparent. The Move pack goodies are very rustic/nature-themed, and the Cross-Controller is space/sci-fi themed. You'll need someone with the periphial to run you through the prize bubbles, but I'm not sure about the tools. | 2014-08-17 15:23:00 Author: Rogar Posts: 2284 |
Well obviously for both of these packs you'll recieve new materials, objects, decorations, stickers and costumes. And in my opinion I love me some new goodies Especially sticker panel in the move pack is one of the greatest materials. Great for animations, sticker placement, vivid solid color, and color and opacity changes. There's lots you can do with it. And of course if you have a move you can make new stuff with movinator. As for cross controller you get more goodies as well and also the vitanator for vita gameplay and some additional tools for tag placement sensoring and so on. So all in all, they were pretty good and contained some cool useful stuff in my opinion. | 2014-08-17 15:38:00 Author: airide101 Posts: 141 |
The cross controller I mostly like for the decorations. If you're looking for create tools, move pack and DC are the ones to go for. DC includes the memorizer, the wall jump which is a nice platformer tool and a few other things The move obviously introduces move controls, but Also comes with better musical instruments and sticker panel... sticker panel is without a doubt the most essential material to any creator who specializes in making anything that isn't just a platformer. I've made two sprite based levels entirely out of sticker panel, which looks far superior to hologram. As it has been said, it does not crop the black though, black sticker panel is not invisible, however there is a transparency setting on sticker panel, but everything will be transparent. Also, due to lack of animation, sticker panel is easier on the thermo. To get the items in the cross cobtroller, you'll need a vita or a friend with one. For the move, the same thing, you need at least one person with the tech to play the levels. With the move you might even have to turn off your controller so you don't spawn, I don't remember. | 2014-08-17 21:26:00 Author: Tynz21 Posts: 544 |
Also, due to lack of animation, sticker panel is easier on the thermo. Random thought: if you set animation speed to 0%, does that reduce thermo then? | 2014-08-17 21:40:00 Author: Rogar Posts: 2284 |
Random thought: if you set animation speed to 0%, does that reduce thermo then? I don't think so because it's still an animated material, though it might reduce area complexity (those yellow warning signs that show up) but regardless, sticker panel has no texture so it's less thermo even if 0 animation did reduce it. | 2014-08-17 21:51:00 Author: Tynz21 Posts: 544 |
You can get most of the stuff by playing through it with someone who has the peripherals so you don't need them to get the items. Sticker Panel and Move Paint are two great ones. It can appear against any background at 100% opacity with a solid sticker or the material set to any color. When you put a sticker on Sticker Panel there are no black edges, anything that is not the sticker becomes 0% opacity so is invisible, no need to crop. Hologram is useful for gradients and sprites using photos with black backgrounds since the black becomes see-through. For everything else, sticker panel is better. Sticker panel is smooth, not textured like hologram and the color isn't dulled. | 2014-08-18 00:16:00 Author: Bremnen Posts: 1800 |

I wrote and quote "function like Hologram" and therefore meaning not exactly but with similarities. | 2014-08-18 02:30:00 Author: SEWO97 Posts: 637 |
I have both the Move and Cross-Controller DLCs but have not played the Cross-Controller one yet since I don't have a PS Vita. Aside from the items you mentioned, the Move pack comes with lots of new decorations, new music, materials, and a PS Move-designed powerup (Brain Crane) If you try playing the DLC packs by yourself without the respective peripheral, the game will indicate that you need to connect them before continuing. I'm not sure about playing online with somebody that does have the peripherals, though. Others have explained the sticker panel pretty well already. | 2014-08-21 02:37:00 Author: The Actual Kid Posts: 36 |
