Quite a nice level, a bit random at times ahah but still fun to play. The only thing i would suggest doing is to make it a bit more detailed when you are outside. But other than that a nice fun level.2009-02-21 21:16:00

Lol yeah it is pretty random. Thanks for playing my level and commenting! A lot of people have been telling me that its not detailed outside but I been trying to think of what else to put outside and I couldn't think of anything...

Hey brnxblze, here's my review.

Pros:
- It starts off good. The sofa and tv really give you the impression that you're in a living room, and the phone was a nice touch.
- The bathroom and the bouncing beds are also really cool. It makes the room more alive.
- I liked how the collector looked inside the bank The patch decoration was cool.
- Those details make a level so much better, for example those money bags in the vault.
- I liked the surprise at the end

Cons:
- There's a magnetic key visible on the gun. I think it's to show you that you have to drag it towards the door, but still. It looks really ugly to see a switch.
- You used quite some stuff from the MM levels. I personally think custom content would look a whole lot better.
- The door i had to blast open with timebombs (The ones from the story levels) looked quite plain. It was just a black block.

Overall, a fun level, that's a tad empty and plain looking. I enjoyed it though!

Hey Brnxblze,

I played your level and can see why so many people enjoyed it, it's well paced with some nice humourous moments (the Mexican bank teller made me chuckle), though I can see why the guys said the city was a little empty looking. The nice details of the interiors at the start make this stand out a bit.

And the bit after the robbery was very surreal, lol. You might as well have had aliens landing! But it was great fun to play with some good platforms and an easygoing key puzzle at the end. The door took way too many bombs though - three would have been enough, but then the switch isn't too far away so it doesn't matter too much.

I had the feeling that you were kind of testing bits here and there - seeing what would work and testing materials out, that kind of thing - so I'm looking forward to the sequels.

A good fun play - and an exceptional video! Really high quality! How did you make it?

Hey, brnxblze. I played this weeks ago and didn't give you words. You deserve a few.

The first thing I'd say is: this level is stupid fun. That much makes it a win. Calling the fixer, driving a car to the bank, the old-school "this is a stickup" moment...classic.

I don't think you should really bother to "improve" the visuals. They're nice and chunky, and they fit the goofy concept of the overall level. If I would add or change anything, it would be the vault sequence. It doesn't match the "feel" of the rest of the level. I wanted there to be some kind of over-the-top dynamite sequence, or some more one-liners during an overblown "security infiltration" scene. In short, I don't have a problem with the platforming in that bit, but there should be some way of scenically tying it in to the rest of the level.

This level almost has a grand theft auto feel to it. You might use that feel to inspire you and add some driving obstacles (if you know what I mean).
Like the pillows on the bed. Made a good mini puzzle. You can't jump up and grab the switch without removing them first. If I didn't remove them when I jumped I would jump back on top of the pillows rather than straight up to the switch.
Liked that you had to have the gun to drive car and enter bank.
Liked having to pull driver out of car in order to drive it.
Like the chase scene at the end... good capture at the end.
Leaves us wanting more.

There are some places where you could add extra prizes (easter eggs).
Behind the counter just to the right of the gun sales man.
Behind the bank counter. You can get back there by jumping off the edge of the bank counter (get on the counter by jumping off of teller) grabing the sign and swinging back there. You would need to make steps to get out from behind the counter though.
Just before and above the high security area. I was almost successful in jumping off the top of the teller to get up there. If you put a rope & sponge to grab on you could utilize that space.


There were a few point bubbles stuck above the bank teller window. Probably accidentally glued there.

You might consider adding some bumps/hills on the road so you can get the cars airborne.
There was one point when I died... maybe it was in the bank (I know there was nothing lethal in the first part of the bank... somehow I got pinched in the scenery or something)... I was surprised how far back the last save point was where it respawned me.

I am terrible at platform games. To get through the high security plazmaball/electric floor area I knocked the bank teller down and push him over the emitters and walked across the top of him. It probably more difficult to do it that way and wasn't what you had in mind for how to get through it... but it was fun doing it.

You've got 4 stars and alot of hearts on your level so you must be doing something right! Wish I could same the same for my level. Looking forward to the next level.

I just finished your level, and was fun from start to finish.

The only parts I had any real issues with, was the scene with the timebombs. It felt like it slowed down the progression of the level for me, and I was just mindless pushing blocks into a wall. I think a much larger or scripted explosion would've been better.

Also, I ran into a strange bug at the very end of the level. I landed on the car and grabbed it, the thing didn't move. So I jumped up and the car flipped over and then the police scene consisted of me being pushed by a wheel, and then I was repeatedly killed.

Try out my level too sometime, I'm leaving feedback on yours right now. ;D

Hiya
Clarie and I just played your level and this is what we thought...

Pros
Really nice simple story that gives the level direction but doesnt get too caught up in text

It was fun to play, and was just the right length

We loved the chase scene, and the jail coming down at the end (although we couldn't see the score board!

Cons
The driving segments didn't seem to serve much purpose outside of the plotline. Maybe some bumps in the road or hazards to avoid could give them more meaning.

Although the plot was good, there were a lot of 'walking through' sections. It would be even better if there were more challenges and puzzle sections. The bombs and jetpack sections were a little unoriginal and extra challenge or puzzling bits there would have really added.

Overall, a good level that we enjoyed playing. 4 stars + heart. Thanks for the time you spent on it.
