My Top FIVE Suggestions For LBP3!

Archive: 5 posts

Hey, guys! :star: I thought I'd leave my top five requests of Sumo Digital on the new LBP title. These are, in my opinion, pretty achievable things that would dramatically increase the quality and enjoyability of the new game for all audiences.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. Built-in HUD Options
This is the first and slightly unrelated part of this list, but I really think it's necessary. In LBP2, when someone added HUD, it just felt awkward. They had to make everything out of Sticker Panel and make it follow a tag, then have duplicate numbers for changing values, working in Create Mode without Preview on was a headache, etc. I think if we were allowed a HUD option in the Tools bag with some basic (and maybe complex if possible) HUD options, creating games with interfaces would be /so/ much easier. You wouldn't have to use Front View to make your displays look proper and lose your 3D aspect, it would be just like any other game. It'd really compliment the whole idea of making your own games as well.

4. Better Servers
LBP2 was quite a feat, to hold that much of a game together without servers crashing once in my memory. But if you guys are already at that point, why not step it up another notch? LBP's connection to other players has always seemed a bit shaky, and at times straight-up confusing and annoying. More steady connections would be wonderful for players to have, and would better encourage socializing with other players when it doesn't take four tries to connect to someone and your popit lags by five seconds when you do. *bad memories with lag*

3. New Music Tools
I've already made a pretty in-depth thread about this topic, but in all honesty it's unlikely that Sumo will upgrade the Music Sequencer to the extent that I requested in that original post. Really most any improvements will be welcome. The more the merrier, and if they can really pull off what I suggested in my first post, I'd be ecstatic to see what the community would do with the tools. However, as I see this is an unlikely jump, I'm just asking that at least we have some new tools. Really, new instruments is a given to me. I want to see you guys throw in entirely new tools. If people could figure out how to use Logic in LBP2, a few advanced music tools won't hurt anyone, they'd only benefit. :3

2. Improved LBP.me Functionality
LBP.me was a wonderful idea that worked really well for creators checking up on their stuff while away, and really turned LBP into more of a social platform along with its game elements. However, I think Sumo can do much better. How about with the new game coming, creators are allowed to log in and leave comments, delete comments, change their profile bio, etc. This would allow creators to give people updates, respond to comments, etc. without having to log onto their PlayStation to do so. I think it'd really be cool to see.

1. Spam Filters.
This is crucial. We all hate the copied levels that infested LBP2. But we also know that the copy option for a level can be very useful. So how about a world where we keep a useful option and get rid of its current negative consequences? Enact spam filters, Sumo. Match data from level to level, level picture, to level title, to description and uploader name/IP. Tracking all that information will no doubt get rid of a lot of spam levels. Sure, not all of them, and it won't entirely fix our problem, but it's a fantastic start and a great way to boost the community's Top Levels page even further.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So that's it! There are my top five requests and suggestions that Sumo implements into LBP3. I really hope you guys agree with what I'm putting out there so the ideas will gain more support while the dev team still has time to work on the game and try new concepts. If you don't agree with anything I said, have further additions to any of it, or have similar suggestions, let's talk in the comments! I'd love to hear what you guys are thinking.

Wow, awesome suggestions, I hope they all get in as well!

Here are mine, I might as well add to the thread, I'll just give summaries of the suggestions (in order of which I want most to least)

More versatile logic
Video implementation INSIDE of levels
DS4 in paint (not just touchpad, but joysticks for fine tuned parts)
Some way to play with 4+ people online
Create mode made overall easier to work with

And I mean the given is just obvious improvement to everything that already exists!

We've already seen some of the new logic and I'm sure there's still going to be much more.
I SO agree with you for painting with joysticks!!!
Create mode will be easier because of all the new tools and how for more layers we no longer have to fully rely on a glitch.

Heres my 5:

1. Followers that follow properly, not a block away despite having 0 follow distance.
2. Bolts, pistons, etc. That can be set not to break or bend when rotated or moved quickly.
3. Improved camera functionality and a HUD editor to overlay on any camera angle.
4. The ability for sackboy to walk in a top down perspective rather than in a controllinator.
5. A decoration editor (might be a stretch) but I'd love this.
