Official GlitchExploit Discussion

Archive: 18 posts

Since there are several threads about glitches (and maybe about exploits) on the forums, I thought it would be a good idea to further discuss them in this thread. Talk about new and current glitches, bugs, exploits, and fixes here! Let me clarify the difference between glitches and exploits:

A glitch (or "bug") is an error or mishap caused by the game's code that's not intended by the developers. These will most likely get fixes eventually.

An exploit (or "trick") is an action the player can perform that isn't intended by the developers and doesn't involve a glitch. Take the MGS Act 3 race start and the Meerkat Kingdom out of bounds exploits for example.

So who wants to start off? I can't think of any at the moment, probably because I don't watch enough videos. And let's keep discussion within the bounds of gameplay, not something that would affect your game save or anything like that.

You and I already moth mentioned the MGS A3 'Exploit' (I gots a thread on it yay!)
so I won't bother re-stating that.
But, if you grab the dissolve on the first part of the collector fight, before the arm moves up to begin attacking you, you can get launched ontop of the collector's controll tower, then jump onto the top of the smashy thing, and get launched up to the second fight.

I've never tried that, sounds cool! I don't use exploits to cheat, but more like finding interesting behind the scenes things, like logic gates.2009-03-13 18:04:00

Like, no matter what? Or are you talking about when you set the minimum to zero? Because if somebody figured out how to always make pistons invisible, let me UP on that. I wanna be in the know.

well, there are great ways to hide them, like behing thin layers, etc. You can also have a piston that has minimum of 0 but does not go all the way to 0, using the directional feature.2009-03-13 23:45:00

Well, there's the "Rail Fail" glitch (as I like to call it) but it's not useful at all. It actually ruins whatever piece of material you're working on

Yes that's how you do the glitch. A glitch doesn't mean it's something doable on any settings or situation. A bug is always because of a specific mix of parameters.

I've just hit a one there, there appears to something invisible, 1 small grid block high by two wide stopping sackboy. I've tried deleting all the planes, fat and thin, using the sticker tool, the pop it, everything, it will NOT budge. Its right in the path of my section as well. 2009-03-16 14:36:00

I think I know why the reason why the corner editing tool fails sometimes. That reason is simply overlapping objects.

You can easily re-create this glitch by placing a square, then placing a smaller square of a different material inside. Select the corner editing tool, then select the outer object. Select the top left corner of the middle square, and push it down. The inner material will be glitched, as the objects are now overlapping. You will also be unable to move any corners.

I've also noticed that if you increase the size of 2 touching objects, then try to edit the corners, the corner tool will eventually 'lock', as the objects are overlapping ever so slightly. You can avoid this by rewinding, then fast forwarding after resizing, then corner editing should work normally.

now hears an exploit that many people use in levels like ningas and wat not and thats the grab relese grab release trick. if you have a sealing made of grabbable material if you jump at it then grab it then youswing than qwickly release than grab you go a small distanse just keep doing it until you get where you whant to go.this isint nesisarily a bad exploit it gives a fun climbing factor into lbp.2009-03-17 13:48:00

Piston Matter. It's what holds pistons to objects. It sometimes isn't deleted when you delete pistons. You have to use the Popit click-and-drag function to move/delete it. I have a whole level about it.

Not really an exploit. It's just like monkey-bars.

Whoa, that's screwy!! That's really screwy. I don't know how you manage to find such weird glitches in this game.

Worst issue I have in this game is that it hates me doing any Rewinding on The Movies. 4 out of 5 rewinds lock up my entire system. If I screw something up, I have to undo it on my own terms, by deleting new stuff and recreating old stuff.

Well this doesn't really have anything to do with gameplay, but a cool trick I've found out is you can use the camera tool in-game to take pictures off-screen where MM or other creators don't want you looking. The best method is to max the frame size and move it all the way to the top, bottom, or if you're at the beginning/end of a level, to the side. It's really cool. I found some logic switches in level 2 of the MGS pack all the way at the top! :arg:2009-03-22 18:11:00

Does anyone know of the Green Glass glitch? A friend suggested for me to use it in a level, but I have no idea what it is.2009-03-23 12:26:00

He's probably talking about the dummed-down cow glitch. Take any material, gassify it with the horrible gas tool, capture it as an object, place the object, unlethalize it, and voila! Green glass that has the properties of your original material! Do this with cloth or something with stitching along the edge then put it behind glass for the Anti-Color effect! I also heard you can change the color of the gas to determine the glass's color.2009-03-23 15:00:00

I think this may have been patched out, but yes, that's the gist of the Green Gas Glass Glitch. White gas gave a grey glass material if you did this, Red gave like a brownish red glass, and so on and so forth. I discovered this by accident the one day and thought it was really awesome! Worked really good with the Hessian fabric.2009-03-23 17:55:00
