A-level results day

Archive: 10 posts

I don't know if anyone else here is taking A-levels [UK] but I got my AS results and I'd thought I'd let you know I've failed. I got two D's (Product Design and Media Studies) and two U [Unclassified]'s (Maths and Applied ICT). You needed three D's to stay on at Year 13 in Sixth Form but there seems to be something fishy going on with ICT so there's a chance that I might have passed!

Any younger folks round here take a hint - keep on top of your work and revise consistently throughout the year!

I'm sorry to hear that wally...

I did pretty well. Got 2 Distinctions (for ICT BTEC and Music Technology) and a C in Art. Met the requirements for my chosen uni! :hero:

I'm sorry to hear that Wally, have you thought about redoing the year instead of moving onto A2s? My friend struggled with Maths in his first year so he decided to redo that AS and he got a B this time around. You might find things just click the next time around. I know especially with subjects like Maths the step up between A level and GCSE is pretty big, and having the experience of already doing it once will surely help.

My results went pretty well, I got a Distinction* in BTEC Software Development, an A in Computing and a B in Maths. So I met the requirements needed for my first choice uni and will be moving up north to study Computer Science!

Nah, it's pretty simple:

Ages 4 - 11 = Primary School
Ages 11 - 16 = Secondary school (14 - 16 = GCSE studies)
Ages 16 - 18 = College (A levels - 1st year = AS, 2nd year = A2. College isn't mandatory)
Ages 18+ = University/Life

Thanks guys! Staying positive, applying to college on Monday (I phoned them and they said I they have places, I just have to phone back on Monday to see if I can take media and Prod. design at A2 instead of AS). A lot of people I know seem to have done badly. College seems a lot better, more grown-up and a lot less time-consuming than Sixth Form. http://i.imgur.com/rqx89Fm.png2014-08-16 01:19:00

I chose College over Sixth Form and I'm absolutely loving it. It is so much better than what my friends who stayed on in Sixth Form tell me. Don't worry man things will work out. This year I need to do overtime and try to distinction all my work so I can get enough Ucas Points for University and also retake my English to try and get a better grade for jobs. Hang in there!2014-08-16 17:05:00

I'm starting my second year of sixth form in September doing Double IT (which is the equivalent to 2 A-levels). It's all I do because I couldn't take any of the other A-levels and the BTEC subjects don't interest me in the slightest.

If I want to get into university then I need to get Merits on the most part. If not, then I'll have to consider something else.

It's pretty basic if you ask me.

This does seem all foreign to me... I spent the first half of my summer taking classes in London, but we were still following US education practices. Would've been neat to have taken classes at one of London's universities and experience a little of this!

I'll be starting my second year at my US university in a week from Tuesday. Tons of fun but tons of work!

Good luck to all of you!
