Adding Text in HUD and it's Slanted & Shifting?

Archive: 8 posts

Adding instructional Text in HUD and it appears off/ slanted like it's running downhill. Can't figure out what would cause this. Any Help would be appreciated.

About to publish my Pocket Tank but don't want the Text to look this way.

The odd thing is it seems to cahnge with each playthrough even if I tweak nothing.

Unfortunately Maxx, it's the default in the game. One playthrough it'll be spot on level, next, at a jaunty slant.....it's supposed to look slightly 'off' to complement the game. I agree it's infuriating, my Murder Mystery (https://karting.lbp.me/v/t61a) level utilises a lot of text and the only thing I found was if you make the text slightly smaller it's a little less noticeable, say at 0.7 or 0.8, the game tends not to mess about with the angle of the text so much but does consistently shift it, albeit again slightly less. Just my experience, hope it helps.

Your other option is to use 'Magic Mouth' and subtitles, leave the Voice off, uses a lot of thermo though.

Ok, it's intending to look... "off" to compliment the game? Really! Really? Looks "off", sans the compliment.

I did use the Cinema Camera and Mouth for one area, it points out a specific Target - so you get the "look-at" feature during one instruction. Most of the earlier parts of Tutorial it'll suit me nicely to have Text, that Text repeats (certain button commands) and is destroyed once task is completed. This allows the player to grasp custom control layout and progress as they do. Slanted text looks like a Glitch really. I'll try smaller font - thanx!

Are you destroying the logic? You don't need to do that if the control text is to be repeated, just use transmitters and hud tweak will happen every time the button is pressed. Or alternatively just put a counter on the button press so say after 5 times the player won't be told how to do that control anymore.

I had left the text on most areas for HUD, but some I used Sequencers to keep groups of text happening in a specific area and I found they wouldn't stop, even with a Counter. So in order to get them to stop, I set to destroy once the objective (or next step) has been obtained and the player will be moving on regardless.2014-08-09 22:27:00

Fair enough, if no longer needed, destroy it, saves on thermo and helps reduce slowdown.

I've had that problem with Sequencers. I tried a variety of methods to make it stop and nothing worked.
The misaligned test issue drives me crazy too! In my last level I re-did one over and over... no use.

I really have a new found appreciation for so many Karting Creators! One example - I have a gate controlled with a hinge in my Pocket Tank Giveaway Level that took me two hours of tweaking to get exactly how I wanted it to work. Although, every time I work in create mode in LBP:Karting I do learn sooo much!
