Prize bubbles

Archive: 4 posts

Hello Sackfolk, thought I'd throw this snippet in having only just tried it myself in my Sacksbyville (https://karting.lbp.me/v/wgsz) level and apologise to all experienced creators in advance if you already knew.

You can move prize bubbles! Who knew, I didn't!

Simple too, just place your prize bubble, put a small piece of forcefield material under it and GROUP them together (you do have to make sure when you place the grouped bubble that the player can't run into the forcefield). The beauty of this now is though you can now attach motors to the forcefield and move the bubble around.

Link it to switches attached to a motor, whatever you like, just remember the forcefield can't be able to be hit, i guess the work around is to change the motors priority to Scenery, but I haven't needed to do that yet but it should work.

Hope this helps any future creations!

I saw this in the LBP:K game when Prize bubbles seemed to be on the open Flat Cars of trains.

Now UFG must have been spawning trains cars with an Emitter right? So those bubbles where not attached to - say Forcefield - they were just set to move at a certain rate and after a set time - destroy. Correct?

So prize bubbles can be set to run away from a player? Now that's intriguing!

Not certain of how they did it but I guess the prize bubbles were grouped with the cars?

Though as far as running away, you could really infuriate the player by attaching a path follower motor to the forcefield material I suggested and get the prize bubble moving anywhere you wanted!!

Update to this tutorial snippet, changing the motor's priority to 'Scenery' doesn't work because the prize bubble also becomes scenery. Should have worked that one out myself.....DOH!
