Hello jaffakree503! (is that a Stargate reference?) I played your level and I enjoyed it! Starting with the positives! The lighting used was stunning and the overall atmosphere was incredibly tense and scary. The idea of tilt zones and zero gravity zones was unique and I thought it made the gameplay very interesting, also the sound effects that these zones produces are very... spooky. I don't know how to describe it, but I really enjoy the sounds they make. Speaking of sounds, I usually don't like lack of background music. However, the lack of music fits the level perfectly and adds to the atmosphere making the level more scary than it already is! Another thing I don't like but fits into this particular level perfectly is the weird touch controls. The reason why it works so well is because it makes the player go into full panic mode when they see an enemy, and that's the reaction you'd want from a scary level like this one. And I also thought the air-lock ending was kinda funny. Moving onto the things I didn't like... Firstly, the 2nd tilt zone has a weird camera angle which makes it unclear to see that the second set of platforms is touching the ceiling. This adds an unfair aspect where the player cannot see the obstacle properly. It's kinda hard to explain... ![]() Overall, I'd give this level a 6.5/10 I yay'd. ![]() | 2014-08-06 16:58:00 Author: Jovuto ![]() Posts: 2345 |

Awesome jovuto, thanks for the great feedback! I've always had problems with the cameras, I'm sure they do different things once published compared to play mode, but it may just be a case of a tradesman blaming his tools. Lol I was interested in making a scary level, but was unsure how I could do it with LBP's crafty style. So I tried to think outside the box and do things like make the bit you refer to in the second tilty bit. It was thinking all about the shadows while was my making it. I watched a documentary about the movie alien and the one thing that stood out was by making it all dark, you leave the audience imagining what is there. And they can imagine way scarier things than I could ever make. But you're right, it's an unfair kill. Lesson learned! Another thing I've been getting a lot of feedback on is the spacing between save points. Again, my intention was to get the player to feel like 'omg I don't wanna die' (similar to the way the pinch-to-destroy made you panic). I've had a blast making this particular level. It's the first one I've made where I've been really thinking about how/what the player will feel while playing. Thanks for playing and taking the time to give the feedback! :-) | 2014-08-07 10:06:00 Author: jaffakree503 ![]() Posts: 72 |
