Level Link Help!

Archive: 8 posts

Hi everyone! Does anyone know if putting a level key, in the first part of your game, will help unlock your level link? My link is not a locked level, it's just a Sub-Level, but could placing a key help? Or, does anybody have any suggestion on how to improve the link. I've heard to kill the player, or to minimalize the on-screen activity while linking. Any suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks! 2014-08-04 21:25:00

I guess your asking for shorter loading time while loading the next level? Level keys don't help I think, but those other tips you say might. Generally if the next level has less thermometer then the loading time is shorter quite obviously.2014-08-04 21:59:00

The battery stays connected and active the entire time? Oh, you mean manual activation. My link is set to auto with a player sensor activating it. I did it for visual purposes, but might that be why it don't activate for some people?

How can I make sure it gets activated?

Well it might be that the level link has a lock on it, which is a bug that occurs randomly. Although you just have to die once and the lock disappears.

Well I just toke out a level link, then put the battery on the sequencer, and connected it.

I trigger hidden level links using logic. For instance, when the player reaches a certain position I counter set to "1" activates the level link. Works fine every time as far as I know.2014-08-05 06:33:00

Actually most levels with just a single thermo will load rather quickly. When you really get long load times is with levels that emit and destroy a lot of things because a full thermometer level can have a file size under a megabyte, but I've seen levels surpass 5 megabytes with careful use of emitting.
