Invisible hazards

So I noticed as of late that quite a few levels have some hazardous stuff that shouldn't be hazardous.

If you're still confused, allow me to use a level as an example: High-Rise Hotel - It's a Team Pick platformer (which is very good, you should check it out). Anyways, so there are elevators in that level, but when you touch the surface of the elevator, it kills you as if you were getting crushed. I don't see any indication of hazards on the elevator, so I'm curious as to how people do it.

Its simple, an impact sensor is connected to the elevator, and when it activates it emits a controllinator set to automatically enter on a piece of material, and then destroys itself quickly making that effect.

Basically, if the material the controllinator is on is destroyed while you are in it it acts as if you were crushed.
