Positional Decoration Spinner?
Archive: 7 posts
Hello everyone. Im just wondering how a positional decoration spinner is made as this team picked level has done it: http://lbp.me/v/qqcwjf7 I've experimented with player sensors, speed scale decoration spinners and other things but I can't just get it right. Although im sure he used those two gadgets and a couple of other things to make it. Anybody care to help me out? | 2014-08-01 18:56:00 Author: Smuffy04 Posts: 606 |
Well I can tell you it'll prpbably have to do with speed scale because that will accept analog signals. If you calculate how long it takes to get from position to position at a given speed, you can probably set it up to go max speed for a fraction of time to go where you want it, but it won't be a one frame thing... I know you can make an essentially positional time with a feedback loop and looping the timer back through, but this wouldn't work with the decoration spinner as you can't loop it back through, unless there's a roundabout way of simulating that... | 2014-08-01 19:20:00 Author: Tynz21 Posts: 544 |
You could drive a timer in parallel, and read the feedback output from that. | 2014-08-01 20:35:00 Author: Rogar Posts: 2284 |
There's a fairly simple way to do it by using a rotation sensor. Set the rotation sensor to Both Directions and 1500 Rotation Speed and set the decoration spinner to 1310 Rotation Speed and Input Action to Speed Scale. Connect the speed sensor to the decoration spinner. Now the decoration spinner will rotate the same amount as anything you put the rotation sensor onto. It's pretty easy to control the rotation of a piece of sticker material, so all you need to do is rotate the piece of sticker material the same amount as you want the decoration spinner to rotate. | 2014-08-01 21:56:00 Author: fluxlasers Posts: 182 |

Oh duh. I always forget that rotation sensors are a thing...lol | 2014-08-01 22:20:00 Author: Tynz21 Posts: 544 |
http://i1.lbp.me/img/ft/e61c14ad37d1fb343235fad37458d4c7bd9c93c0.jpg this is the way I've been doing it, which is precisely what Rogar suggests. Timer and deco spinner are set to speed scale, rotation speed is 1500, timer max is 0.1 You can play around a little with these settings to get the effect you want. Using rotation sensors is abit clunkier but also easier to manage, so it's up to you! The level you mention has only two positions for its spinners, you can achieve that effect simply by giving the spinner a push for a fixed amount of time, and then doing the same but with the opposite sign to reset to the original position. It's pretty easy to make fancy deceleration effects this way! | 2014-08-02 00:35:00 Author: actio1_618 Posts: 81 |

But that makes it easier! | 2014-08-02 03:27:00 Author: Tynz21 Posts: 544 |
