SAVE THE ORPHANS!!! (Pictures Included)

Archive: 10 posts

A Mexican wrestler named Senor Loco Pantalones has kidnapped all the orphans in the world and is planning on turning them into a giant bomb to destroy the earth. You must defeat him and avoid his doom traps so you can Save the Orphans!

This level is fairly hard, so I wouldn't recommend it for beginners.

I always try to throw some humor into my levels, so if you like it check out my others.

Enjoy!

Well, I just tried to save the orphans and failed! I thought your level was pretty fun and it did have some crazy humor thrown in as well. I found the first half of the level, right before the glass slides to be challenging, but doable. However, once I hit the slides I started to become a bit frustrated, specifically with the bombs dropping on the slide and then the rolling fire logs. Unfortunately, that's where I died, so my impressions will only apply up to that point.

I thought visually, it looked pretty good but a bit sparse with the exception of all the crazy materials which I thought did fit the theme of your level. I'd maybe suggest adding a few more stickers or decorations throughout, just to spruce it up a bit. I'd especially recommend doing this more toward the sliding segment I mentioned about.

I liked many of your platforming elements, even the more difficult ones, and I liked the use of the bomb to blow the wall right before you enter the roller section. It's a fun, but challenging level. My suggestions would just be to tweak the difficulty where I died a bit more and to add a bit more visual detail throughout.

Sweet. Yeah alot of my friends have trouble on those 2 parts specifically. I think as the creator it's hard to find the right balance when it comes to making it challenging because my whole level is easy for me to do cause I know exactly how to do it. For someone who's never done it before it's very hard. I will tweak a few things and update it.

How exactly do you edit a level and republish it?

You can edit your level on your moon and then once you are ready to republish, just select publish and place it right on top of the old version. So, basically, do exactly what you did when you published the first time, but make sure you copy over the old version. It will keep your play count, hearts, and comments intact.2009-02-23 01:21:00

Do you think that putting infinite checkpoints would be a better solution? It certainly would be alot easier than editing those sections to be easier.

BTW, the rolling fire logs are easy if you stay in the front plane and time your jumps so you are standing still when the log comes. Just pay close attention to see which log is coming.

Ok, I played this one last night.

This level was fun. There was a lot of color and some really nice platforming elements. I also liked the concept.

Couple things:

On the part where you are sliding down the glass with the bombs coming down - I totally agree it can be done, but it seemed a little cheap. Maybe burn mark stickers on the glass showing you where the bombs are dropping. It takes a number of deaths before you figure out what's really happening.

On the part with the spinning wheel that raises after the spinning blade - while the wheel was up in the air I fell. Since the wheel doesn't lower again if you arent' grabbing it, that pretty much ended my game. I would suggest not having it be a grab puzzle unless you can figure out how to get it back down when the player lets go.

Oh ok yeah I meant to change that in version 2 but I forgot to. Thanks!

Also, the dropping bombs, I agree it is a little cheap, but I was kind of going for that feeling. I put an infinite checkpoint there so no one would waste all their lives there. I want it to feel hopeless, just for that small section. All you have is the hope that a bomb doesn't fall and blow you up.

(BTW if a mod could combine the two threads about this level that'd be sweet.)
