I was just trying to come up with some designs for a level that I've been working on, and I was stuck for the longest time. I started listening to music and poof! I had an idea. Does any one else listen to music while you create? If so, what kinds? I happened to turn on a few songs from my childhood (like younger childhood since I'm still a kid... well not in Texas), like, Welcome to My Life, and stuff from The Fray, Five for Fighting, and some bands that I'd rather not share

I like to create in absolute silence. If anyone tries to talk to me when creating, they get a punch to the genitals. Ok... well maybe not the last part, but I don't listen to music!

Depends on what I'm creating. If I'm doing something that requires a lot of thought and focus - say some intensely complex logic or composing my own music, silence is my favorite song for that. if I'm doing something creative that requires imagination, I tend to play a little piano, listen to piano music or anything that is relaxing or smooth. Stress is the biggest hinderance for me when coming up with ideas. Stranger in Moscow from Michael Jackson, Kiss from a Ross by Seal, Simon and Garfunkel songs, (yeah yeah, I know I'm old-fashion) and I Remember by deadmau5 are probably my favorite go-to chill out songs. Sometimes I switch on iTunes Radio and listen to the deep house music station too. It's awesome because I have studio monitors and a fairly acoustic environment where I create so it really brings out the song's qualities.

I don't really need music to get ideas. It usually takes enough time building levels that by the time I've finished, I have an idea for a new one. I've also got a few old ideas that I plan on making.

I often create to the soundtracks from RDR, and all of the Sly games when creating. They help me just get into a creative mood. I find myself creating for longer periods of time and getting more done when I listen to them, too.

It deppens on the level I made my logic city level to we built this city by star ship. Then I created logic city escape to City escape. I often try to pick a song which gives the same atmosphere and emotion as the level I am creating so if I was after a happy atmosphere I would probably listen to something like video killed the radio star or Fireflies by owl city. If it is an intense level sometime like Burn by deep purple.
