Worth Buying?

Archive: 19 posts

I am thinking about buying a PSVita just to play LBP Vita, is it worth it? And maybe after that buy the cross-controller pack for LBP2. I might consider a purchase before LBP3 but I need to hear some opinions from people who owns a PSVita themselves.2014-07-31 14:55:00

I bought a Vita long ago before LBP Vita was even announced, and it's really fun! For example, right now I'm going away for 2 weeks without my PS3, so I'm gonna play LittleBigPlanet on the go! And the Cross-Controller pack has a lot of new materials, stickers and decorations, so I would say it's a good deal 2014-07-31 15:11:00

Are good community levels still being published? I am also thinking about getting a Vita, and I just wondered if the community was still good.2014-07-31 17:17:00

I think I'll buy a PS Vita, they're pretty cheap today compared to when they was released.2014-07-31 18:15:00

Well if your buying it for LittleBigPlanet Vita, thats fine. It has new tools such as the dephysicalise tool, rain material and much more! Its also LittleBigPlanet on the go, so thats a bonus. You can also play the Cross-Control pack in LittleBigPlanet 2 using the Vita and get new goodies!
If I had to recommend another game, it would be Tearaway.

Of course there are still levels being published! Granted, there aren't as many quality levels published as often as LBP2 but I'd say it's still a sizable amount.

It's definitely worth the purchase, I originally bought the vita just for lbp and I didn't touch the thing until the lbpv beta. I was very naive as I didn't know there were so many games for it. I would especially recommend having ps plus, you could easy just play the games in the instant game collection and have more than enough to play. But not only that there's often great deals on throughout the year, especially indie games.

If you do get a vita, get the largest memory card possible! I was silly and got a 4gb first, now I'm using a 16gb one and that's not really enough for all my games.

Not only is there a load of great games, if you have a ps4, remote play works pretty darn well (I've only tried it on the same network though). The other day I was grinding on the Destiny Beta using remote play while watching tv.

As for lbpv, it is currently the superior lbp game but I'm sure that will change when lbp3 is out. I find it weird going back to lbp2 after playing lbpv, there's so many improvements. The community is filled with tonnes of great levels, albeit they are less frequent than on lbp2 but the community is smaller here on the vita. But there's still amazing creator working on levels! I personally didn't like the Vita, I mean it's good for anyone who is a hardcore gamer and likes to game everywhere. But I didn't like it, I don't like the software. It's easy and accessible, but I just didn't like it. I liked it for about a week then I just kinda stopped playing it. But this was like last year so they have probably made improvements. But honestly if you're getting it just for LBP Vita I would consider waiting. Because that's the only reason I wanted it too. But it comes down to it's all up to you!2014-08-01 04:11:00

I aim at buying PS Vita just to be able to play LBP Vita and I really like LBP so that wont be a problem. I have done this before, I bought PS Move just for the Move Pack, and I don't regret it. But I'm glad to hear others opinions that makes it more worthy, so I thank you for that.2014-08-01 09:10:00

Simple, yes. I enjoy my vita immensely. And remote play is brilliant if you plan to get a PlayStation 4 along with it.2014-08-03 06:43:00

I bought a PS3 to play LBPkarting.
I ended up selling it 4-5 months later.

I enjoy playing mine but I would not recommend buying it just for one game, especially for a rapidly aging game on dying system.
As for the game itself, the campaign is really short- you can play through it in one sitting- blink of an eye really. It's not that it's not fun, it's just really short. There also aren't many community levels being published anymore. You rarely get any teampick levels and when you do they're basically app-style levels/games.
Unlike with LBP2- you won't see many people online at any given moment and most of the time they're just playing solo as the lag is insane.
If you can wait- I'd say wait until November (black friday) as it will most likely be bundled with a memory card and 1-2 games. LBP3 will also be released around the same time...

I had the same question - so thanx for asking to OP!

My problem is really overall cost of whole package - with SONY's proprietary Memory Cards (64 GB Card is $100!) Plus, I'd have to have a carrying case, and what looks like a real lack of third party games moving forward. Although SONY is actively pushing for Indie developers to get on Vita development. I'd say you can expect less third party games to be developed exclusively for the Vita.

Also, is there any hint that LBP3 will utilize the Vita right on Day 1?

When searching for Vita pricing online there's no real indication if I'm looking at the new Slim Model or the older chunky model. I expected pricing to be better than it is by now, my real hesitation is overall price vs lack of games.

For the price of the Vita now (with memory, case, etc.) I need at least 10 games I really must play & are "exclusively" on the Vita. I just don't see it yet.

Great question!!!

i struggled a bit as well as I wasn't a big fan of the PSP, but I did end up buying a Vita just because I wanted to see the new LBP and what quite a few of my friends had done. I loved the story levels and felt they had regained a bit of the charm that LBP 1 had. I also loved the great new tools and properties. To me as if someone made the Pro version of LBP2 create mode. Very impressive and loved it.

As others have said, there is not so much else on the Vita that at least I have found fun to have on a portable. ... I did love Tearaway!! I also love pinball arcade and zen pinball. I have several tables from each that I like to play.

I am also hoping that the cross controller option on PS4 with LBP 3 gives us more than just an extra gimmick in play mode.

Here's yet another reason why you should buy a PS4 instead:

Yes, the only other game that you would have enjoyed is no longer a PSVita exclusive and will be coming to the PS4 (exclusively.)
