working lift

Archive: 5 posts

Recently i tried making a lift with logic gates and managed to make it work so that when the switch was pulled and you are in the lift the doors will close and it will go down. The only trouble i am now having is that i am not sure how to make the lift doors open again once it is at the correct floor. (a friend mentioned to use a NOT gate but im not sure)

Here is a simple drawing of what i have so far (i know its poor quality its just to sort of help if you don't understand what i mean):

I'm wondering if anyone could tell me where im going wrong and how to make the lift only go down when the doors are shut and the switch has been pulled and then make the doors open when the lift reaches the desired floor.

Depends, do you have one door? or a door on each side?
One door, you need a OR Swich.

you could have doors on either side of the lift, so you could just have a magnetic key system that opens the doors opposite to the way you came in.

First post btw

EDIT: by magnetic key system I mean a magnetic key on the bottom of the lift and a magnetic key switch at the bottom of the shaft.
