logic simulating the hero cape
Archive: 5 posts
Alright you logic gurus, I was so impressed by your answers to yesterdays tether question I decided to ask one of my own. What I'm looking to do is simulate the hero cape on an object. The object is piloted by a player in a controlinator. Movement and jump logic is pretty standard, but the glide and flight of the cape power up is what I'm about to attempt. My first thoughts are to play around with speed sensors and movers. The flight should be triggered by an impact sensor and the R1 button. Any ideas or help will be appreciated. Edit: just played around with it. I made the glide part ok, but the upward swoop was a failure. I need logic that can convert speed into signal strength for the movers and some way for gravity to overcome upward movement. | 2014-07-30 01:44:00 Author: one-mad-bunny Posts: 334 |
use 4 directions of speed sensors to gradually lose energy as the same rate as gravity, but allow energy conversion like if you decide to go right, then you fall at a constant gilding rate, straight down is normal falling speed, and up converts all energy to upwards force R/L: Default Glide (~1 big grid per second) but horizontal speed depends on energy D: Default LBP downwards acceleration, no extra logic required U: All energy directed UPWARDS and energy is lost as fast as gained when falling (simulate negative energy with gravity) just try to allow gradients of these powers with and gates and feedback loops | 2014-07-30 05:27:00 Author: amiel445566 Posts: 664 |
Interesting... I'll have to play around with that. Thanks buddy. | 2014-07-30 22:23:00 Author: one-mad-bunny Posts: 334 |
He pretty much said it all. Feedback loops seem to be good for just about everything, simulating conservation of energy included. | 2014-07-30 23:00:00 Author: Tynz21 Posts: 544 |
Thanks guys. Most of it works pretty good. My last hurdle is making that smooth swoop before upward movement. The movers allow for jarring instant changes in direction. I think I need two different energy conversions, like downward speed enables horizontal speed and horizontal speed builds upward thrust. Ya, that's what I'll try tonight. | 2014-07-31 20:52:00 Author: one-mad-bunny Posts: 334 |
