DVLC3 Creator Interview - BLAHBLAH1000

DVLC3: "Triple Trouble" Creator Interview:
BLAHBLAH1000 (https://lbp.me/u/BLAHBLAH1000)

1. A winner is you! Congrats on winning the contest Blah, your level was a treat to play. To start off this interview, I'd like to know what you felt was different about entering this contest compared to when you entered Rocket Twinkie for DVLC2. Different strategies in creating perhaps, did you have more or less time to work on this entry?

Creating Isometric Disco Party felt very different from Rocket Twinkie mostly because of the amount of time I had to make it. DVLC2 caught me by surprise because I was focusing on getting my SFC1 movie done. By the time your competition was brought up again I only had a few days to make an entire level. I was able to plan out DVLC3 a lot more than DVLC2 and I'm glad I did because creating a 3-player level had me stumped for a couple days.

2. Moving forward from Isometric Disco Party, how do you see future projects of yours ending up like? Do you feel comfortable in following level contests and other sorts of creating events to restrain yet encourage you, or are you going to shoot for levels that are bigger and more ambitious as well?

I honestly don't know. I make LBP levels and videos as a hobby so I'll post or publish whatever ideas I come up with. I've recently been participating in competitions because I need some inspiration to start off my ideas. I find it hard to think of something brand new so I've mostly been doing re-makes of games outside LBP. Isometric Disco Party was the result of me playing with random logic on the moon and it became a good level.

Something I am certain of though is 3D Rocket Twinkie coming to the PS4

3. Yess, hype train initiated. So then, what can we expect to see from the definitive Rocket Twinkie installment, beyond the glorious 3D twinkie factor of it? In fact, do you plan to try expanding upon the ideas presented in your other existing levels as well, and if so, how?

I have to keep my ideas about Rocket Twinkie a secret for now. I don't know what LBP3 has in store so I'm not sure how 3D Rocket Twinkie could actually work.

A while ago I was thinking about making an LBP2 sequel for my Bad at Driving series. It was going to be a top-down drive-them-up where your main goal is to hit as many innocent sackpeople as possible. I made the cars, pedestrians, and gameplay mechanics but I never got around to making the level. I may get around to it later but at this moment it's an abandoned project.

I know some people will be asking this but I don't know if I will re-make Sumotori Dreams again. I'll have to experiment with the LBP3 create tools before I make that decision.

4. Fair enough. Whatever the case may be, I'm sure we'll be in for a treat. What are you most excited about for LBP3 by the way, and out of all of the suggestions made, what are you most hopeful is going to end up being added/fixed? I know that over 60 new tools have been promised for the Little Big Threequel, but so far, it doesn't seem like many of those tools have actually been shown off.

ONLINE FREAKING MULTIPLAYER! Everybody can agree with me when I say I'm tired of the game diverging during my livestreams. Everybody freezes and it brings gameplay to a standstill. The day when people can join my pod without a 7 second loading screen will be the day I can die happy.

Enough ranting. I'm mostly exited about the new logic and the 3D capabilities of LBP3. If you inspect the announcement trailer you can see many objects and decorations being moved in new and different ways. If 3D rotating is as good as it looks I will be a kid in a candy shop. Media Molecule achieved an amazing milestone by adding logic to LBP2, so I hope that Sumo Digital does the same with this new game. I'm also predicting to see some Vita tools showing up in LBP3.

5. Yeah, while details have been relatively sparse, there's definitely some things to be excited for with LBP3. While you yourself seem to be eager to keep creating with the new tools, I'm sure plenty of other cool creators on LBP2 will be joining in on the fun as well. Who are some of your favorite creators on Craftworld, and which out of them are you most excited to see make some more levels and other thingamajigs with LBP3's shiny new tools?

Oooooooh hard question. I've always been a fan of Foofles. I absolutely love his bunny obsession and his 1st person adventure level 'Corridors of Madness' blew my mind. Fun fact, I invited Foofles to my pod a long time ago to help with some music and he actually joined! He's one of my inspirations for creating levels.

Another creator I like is osvaldo_sniper. His re-makes of popular multiplayer games are a blast to play with friends. His 'Assassin's Creed' level is the best one out there!

I can name a lot more but that would take up 5 pages. XD

6. Yes, there's a ton of talent throughout the LBP-verse, for sure. How exactly has the work of some of these creators inspired you for your own efforts in LBP, and perhaps, for life in general? (It's okay, you're allowed to get super philosophical here, if you'd like)

The number 1 thing I have learned from creating in LBP is to keep doing what you love! Once upon a time little baby blahblah was creating the best level ever in LBP1. It had jetpacks! It had ragdolls! It had... really buggy gameplay. As soon as I published it people started hating on it and I eventually took it down. Now there is only 1 existing photo of that level which I keep in one of my saved pods.

I could have given up on LBP right there and then (plot twist) but I didn't! I kept creating more and more less crappy levels. Then LBP2 came out and my levels got even less crappier! I started uploading videos and hosting livestreams. Then I entered a competition with this awesome idea, "What if I put a rocket on a twinkie?". It had rockets! It had Twinkies! It had... very obviously copied gameplay mechanics. As soon as I published it people started hating on it, but I didn't delete it. A few days later it got Team Picked. My levels have gotten so less crappy that it turned into not crap!

If you keep failing in something eventually you will succeed. That's what every popular creator has experienced... except steve_big_guns. Hes always been good.

7. Well said. How does your cute little green character 'Fuzzy' feel about all of this, then? Does Fuzzy talk that often, or is he usually shy? What are the origins behind Fuzzy, and where can I pick one up myself, or is he just a one of a kind fuzz monster who can't be replaced?

I just created fuzzy one day when derping around with decorations. Ever since then he's become my pet and mascot. Half the time I don't even know what he's thinking. Sometimes he disappears for periods of time and comes back expecting me make him a sandwich. What I do know is that fuzzy loves the amount of popularity he's gaining.

I don't think fuzzy can talk. Whenever I ask him to clean up after himself he licks me and rolls away. I've been trying to match his behaviors with his emotions but he always has this deep stare in his eye. I'm also worried about what he eats. Like I said earlier, he demands to be served food but then I see it smeared all over his fuzz later. I think we have relationship issues. Fuzzy does give the best hugs though.

8. Sounds like one heck of a.. er.. fuzz? Speaking of derping around, it would probably be pretty silly of me to go through this interview without mentioning your LBP2 livestreams. They've been a treat to watch, with plenty of crazy moments thrown into the mix. (Sometimes a bit too crazy for the younger viewers though, so beware!) What do you have to say about the streams' success, and what have you enjoyed most from hosting them?

When I first started streaming I didn't have many viewers if any, it was just me and my close friends. It was only when I joined Twitter and been more active on the forums when people actually started watching. Now I have people encouraging me to do the streams which is great. Whenever I have to miss a weekend everybody asks me, "When will you do your next stream?". It sometimes amazes me how people look forward to the nonsense of my livestreams.

What I enjoy most about hosting streams is getting people together and having a jolly ol' playsesh. We create public inside jokes (Outside jokes?), share our favorite levels, and have a fun time overall. Whenever I get in a bad mood or get stuck in a crummy day I have something to look forward too.

9. Yes, and it's also fun to bug you guys with some crazy levels to play. On the topic of levels, what are your thoughts on Dawnbreaker_23's entry, and how did it feel like competing against her?

I really liked Dawn's level! I played it during one of my livestreams with Buster and Chuncky. I love the idea of being blind and having to use communication to overcome obsticles. The intro was also colorful and funny! The deeper we got into the level the more I wanted to know about the prison we were locked in. A spawning bug stopped us from playing any further but I loved the thought and planning Dawn put into this level.

10. Yeah, it was a treat to play both of your levels, let's hope that the next contest has some more fun levels to play through as well! This is a nice place to wrap up the interview, but I'm afraid that, through my questioning you, I have come to the conclusion that you are not the real Blahblah, but instead, a phony who has locked him up while you get all the glory for his work, hmph.

So tell me then, why should I believe that you're really him, and would you like to send a shout-out or any additional sage advice to those who are reading this, before I consider locking you up?

You foiled my plan! BLAHBLAH is busy trying to hold off some lion-bear-zombies in the pit if death! You will never find me and never know who I am! Now I must escape using his rocket Twinkie and take all the likes and hearts for myself! Goodbye DragonVARSITY and good luck with your puny competitions! AAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

In all seriousness though shoutout to Vezonfan, DragonicFire, and DopeBoyDrew for helping me with my level. Also thanks to Dawnbreaker for making her great entry. I had a ton of fun in this competition!

Can't wait for DVLC4!

Nope, I don 't have a PS Vita. Sorry

If it's any consolation, chances are that there will be a DVLC5.
