One of those levels that sits on your moon, while you debate with yourself whether or not you should publish it. "It'll need a bit of tweaking, it'll need a bit of polishing." So I thought what the heck. With LBP3 round the corner, why not just go for a final stretch and throw everything I've got at the LBP2 servers.

And so, this level is published. Its rough around the edges, obviously, as it dates back to years and years ago. I've gave it a tiny bit of a spruce up to ease people in. All I need now is some advice and feedback, which of course I'm willing to give back in return.

Thank you, people of LBPC. I've missed you.

Joking aside, I know that feel of being iffy on some old stuff, so I'll be happy to give it a go, I'd be glad to give you some advice and what not. So I'll queue it up!

Trust me, I'm lucky I was even able to post a thread! It's been years since I've used this site (under a different alias some may remember, similar to my current name ). But thanks for queuing it, I'd love to see what you think of it. As I said, it's a bit rough, so don't be expecting a smooth ride!

those lazors!

okay, this was a fun little level to play!
but i must say, i love and hate those lasers at the same time, it was a lot fun trying to get past of them, but at the same time i died more often than i ever thought i would in this level. maybe slowing them down a little bit would help i guess?

i found a few parts a bit confusing, but that never made me stop wanting to play it. made me think about how i would enjoy another well designed puzzle level where you need to figure out how to use the bounce pads to get from room to room. like here just a bit more focused on it.

you know what another cool idea for another level would be? like in portal 2, doing stuff with the lasers, trying to change their directioin with cubes and other things like puzzle plattformers :3

yeah, sorry this is a short review, but i don't know much to say this time ^^ i hope it was okay for you.
and thats why i say: you don't need to play my level and review it. but you can!

I had fun with the level.

I also enjoyed that bounce pad part where you had to time it correctly, I thought it was a very unique gameplay element that was in your level.
Another thing that I liked was riding in those carts, it reminded me of the LBP1 Canyons section
I wish there was more of things like that.

The lasers were tough, but fun to get through.

Although before the first section there is an unglued checkpoint which you can push into the lasers using the bounce pad cart, which causes you to repeatedly die.

That is the only problem with the level, other than that, good level!

I'd appreciate if you could give me feedback on my level: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=89833-Wooden-Works-Part-1

Thanks

This was a fun level I enjoyed the rolling carts and having to jump up on the ledge before the pink holo electrocuted me. The lasers were also a really clever section until I got to the very last laser section. It was a bit too hard for me. I probably died 30 times before I barely got out alive lol.

Maybe slow them down a bit or give a clue where each laser stops and ends. It's a bit disorienting to see the lasers constantly go back and forth. Anyways I'm picking on that one section, but I found the rest of the level to be great. It did remind me of a lbp 1 level, which is always a good thing. Especially with the rolling carts. I do love those types of gameplay. I would have liked to see some more interesting visuals, but that's only minor. I really enjoyed your level!

If you check out my hidden objects game for f4f, that would be great.

Edit - Okay scratch that. I just saw your review for my level. Thank you very much! Based on one-mad-bunny's comment, I figured there was a trick that I wasn't getting. one-mad-bunny's suggestion seems better.

Let me be the first to say I didn't have a problem with those lasers... After I died like twenty times (just want to seem like I did better than greensmurffy) I figured out the trick to them and breezed right through. I don't think you need to slow the lasers down. I think people are having problems with them because it is different than anything else in the level. My suggestion would be to add two more laser obstacles in earlier sections of the level and have them increase in difficulty. That way you prepare the player for what's coming.

I thought the level design was pretty good. There were a few spots I felt could have been given a little more attention visually. I liked the dramatic angles and tilted platforms. I liked the crooked planks, but I think they should have had some cracks in them, more variety and perhaps the crooked nail instead of the bolts.

I had fun playing. Nice work.

The level's lay out is confusing and the timed bounce pads were a pain. However the level makes up for that with the later segments using the charts and lazers. I personally think the level could be improved with enhanced visuals. The gameplay can be improved by adding more puzzle elements involving the lazers and carts. As that is what makes your level unique, let's face it bounce pads have pretty much been done to death
I would say the bit that really ruined the level for me is the bit after the bounce pads where you had to jump on 2 thin planks to get to the other side, I am not a fan of those platforms which you can only just jump over as it then gives the appearance that your not meant to go that way and add really cheap difficulty. It was a good level but has room for improvements.

As it is F4F. https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=89705-Danto-Saga-17-Unstoppable-force

I think every level I ever published was rushed or I just couldn't work any more on it, but I'm excited to see what you created! I'll be sure to provide some feedback through here and I don't need any in return! Consider it Queued!!! http://i.imgur.com/bjKCAej.png2014-08-01 21:45:00
