English is not my first language, so please excuse typos and stuff...

I started playing LBP1 somewhere about 2009/2010, when I purchased a PS3. I quite liked it, and played through all the story levels.

I also played around with the level editor, but found it irritating and complicated, and soon stopped playing alltogether. Until my then 6 year old daughter visited us, and had difficulties playing the story levels after the first few episodes. So I made her some more beginner-stages.

And that got me into seriously working with the editor. I soon was fascinated with the things that had bothered me at first, like the cumbersome logic and the limited features.

Then LBP2 came out, and... well, I do not want to start a controversy in my first post, but I did not like it that much. This is just my opinion, but LBP2 had many features, that I really had wished for, but in the end ruined it for me. LBP Carting only made it worse. I bought it on the first day, but stopped playing after a few weeks.

Anyways... I came back to LBP1 and started creating levels as a hobby. I wanted to keep up the look and feel of the original story levels, but also expand into some new themes.

In the beginning I created levels mainly for myself and for my family. I hesitated a long time before I first published a level I made, because I felt they were not good enough. Or that people would not be interested in them.

Since to me LBP was basically a single-player game - at least the way I used it, it was a logical consequence I didn't realise there was such a great LBP-community for a long time. So I had to work out a lot of things for myself before I discovered tutorials e.g. on this site.

The time came I felt I wanted to show the world, what I had created, so I started publishing levels. Some of them were played, others got lost amongst that millions of other levels in the sack-universe. Which is quite easy to explain since I created levels for a game that is outdated for years.

A few weeks ago I republished an old level, and suddenly it had about 150 players. That surprised me. And I wondered if somebody had liked it, and advertised it in a forum or something like that. And so I started searching for forums and found you. Found again. I watched tutorials from this site, and used the wiki, when it was still working.

Well, here I am.

Reasons:
- I want to promote some of my levels, all are oldschool LBP1.
- I plan to learn a bit about creating in LBP2, so in future times I may start creating for that game, too.
- I want to keep in touch with recent developments in the community, so that when LBP3 comes out, I want to be up to date.

Hello there! Glad you gave our site a chance! Even if you're an old school creator only that makes you even more interesting! You can still create threads in our Level Gallery even if you're levels are LBP1-homemade

Hope to see you around for a long time!

Welcome! :hero:

I find it interesting that you prefer LBP1 over the others. I prefer LBP2, but I have to admit that I miss the DIY feel that LBP1 had.
If you're looking for help regarding LBP2 and Karting, you came to the right place! 8D

Hi bzr242,

also welcome from me! I've never tried to create in LBP1, I'd started with LBP2, had been totally enthusiastic and bought me LBP1 afterwards! LBP1 seem to me more inconvenient, LBP2 much more elegant. Even today I'm astonished f.e. if I listen to music made in LBP1. Its been real art to make music in LBP1. On the other side LBP1 levels have a special flair and so I can comprehend your preference.
Your family certainly is a grateful audience for your creations but its so much more satisfying if you're part of a community, if lots of people notice your level and like it! I'm sure that you won't regret to have joined our community and I'm looking forward to meet you and try your levels. Many greetings, Jürgen^^

Hello and welcome! For me, LBP2 is better in that I like to create more logic based minigames that aren't really feasible in LBP 1 with the more limited toolset. However I can definitely understand how something was lost from the old simplicity of lbp1. Plus, lbp1 story levels were better.2014-07-18 16:32:00

Welcome! Glad ya made it!

Facinating introduction! .. I actually agree a bit about LBP1. I loved the lighting better and could do some pretty incredible looking things with it. I also loved the charm of the story levels as a whole.

...regardless, you have come to the right place!

Have fun!

That was an incredibly heartfelt story bzr242! It truly surprises me how LBP is able to create such amazing memories! Your dedication to LBP1 is something I'm sure many members would agree with, but I'd say to give LBP2 another chance if you really enjoy creating. Good luck on your goals and Welcome to LBPC!!! 2014-07-24 15:21:00
