Memorizer

Archive: 3 posts

Hi all,

I don't have the DC Pack, but my friend was telling me I should pick it up as it is very useful. He was describing a tool called the memorizer to me, and I was just wondering whats it all about, and is it worth buying the pack? I hear you can make a save feature with it, is this true or not?

Thanks

It is true. For any advanced Creator I would definitely pick it up for the sake of the memorizer and a few othe cool items including some nice decorations and a few color changeable materials that could be useful. The hero cape powerup is also relatively fun for platforming based gameplay, and the dc pack story levels aren't too bad. It's a decent pack. I'm not sure if it's worth it if you're not extremely into creating, bit for me, it's only a few dollars and the memorizer is great.

The cool thing about the memorizer is that you label it as you might label a tag. What this does is allows you not only to save data within one level, but between levels as well because any memorizer with the same label as another will automatically remember the same signals as the first. This includes analog signals. If you're in to logic, you can probably already see potential for making achievements, unlocks, or even saving a characters level and items for an RPG level. You could also set it up so earning an achievement in one level unlocks something in another level.

My summary is this:

The memorizer is a great tool for advanced creators and offers huge potential for level making. However, it is definitely one of the more high level technologies to integrate effectively, so if you're more of a novice it may not be worth your money.

If you want to see some great examples of what can be done with the Memoriser, I've created an LBP.me List of some of my favourite levels featuring Memoriser functionality here:
