Will LBP2 Spotlight continue existing?

Archive: 6 posts

When LBP2 came out, the spotlights on LBP1 stopped to move on to LBP2. Will the same thing happen with the LBP2 spotlight when LBP3 launch?2014-07-14 20:04:00

Hey there,

The answer to that question is that we will still be featuring spotlights in LittleBigPlanet 2 along with Vita, Karting, and LittleBigPlanet 3. However, we may phase out of LittleBigPlanet 2 sooner or later though that's not for 100% sure.

I Imagine HUB coming sometime after LittleBigPlanet 3, which will introduce new members to the community with a whole bunch of levels so we may adjust according to that, it is not for sure though.

But for now, we will still feature LittleBigPlanet 2 spotlights!

As long as the community supports the game (LBP2) with awesome creations I don't see why the spotlights would stop. LBP1 eventually stopped because everyone moved on to LBP2 after all.2014-07-14 20:38:00

Oh, I see.
Since LBP2 levels will be playable on LBP3, I don't see why LBP2 Spotlight would stop too. Even if 90% of the community move on to LBP3, I think you guys shoudn't stop featuring LBP2 levels.

Just to add to the previous comments from hyper and yugnar, there are no plans to stop the LBP2 spotlights any time soon. The LBP (1) spotlight only stopped featuring levels from the game when there were no more being posted to the forums (literally, I don't think I've seen an LBP1 level for a long long long time.) In fact, I don't think we ever officially stopped supporting the game, as the PS3 crew have to ability to play those levels through LBP2. I still think if a level worthy of a spotlight was made in LBP1, it would be played and featured if deemed of a high enough standard.

The only game we ever officially stopped supporting was PSP, due to a massive decrease in the levels being published, and the spotlighters able to play the levels.

So long as good, spotlight-able levels continue to be published on LBP2 and shared with the Central community, they will be featured. If that changes, you will certainly hear it here first

tl:dr ; Nope! Gonna keep going for a long time yet!
