The Artifact

F4F Limit: 10

I finished work on my first "proud to publish" Little Big Planet level. The level is named "The Artifact". PSN is RHYN0X (spelled with a zero, not an "oh") (Thank you Dobi6 for reminding me to add my PSN lol).

Please check it out and play it, let me know what you think. Heart it and me if you like it please. Leave a comment, nice, meant, constructive criticism... whatever, it doesn't matter.

I look forward to hearing what you guys think.

Thanks!

PS - Feel free to add me as a friend, I play lots of games and of course LBP. Always willing to help out, test, or just goof around. PSN again: RHYN0X (spelled with a zero, not an "oh").

You want to put your PSN tag somewhere.

If someone looks up "artifact" they will find tons of levels.

Ok... I played it twice... I liked it overall (and gave it a heart), but here is my feelings on the level:

I thought it needed some embelishment... It feels a little empty - design-wise.

As for issues...
After the lift, I discovered that if you die in the fire, you have to go all the way back down to the bottom to do it all again. That is a pain.

I liked the idea of the choose switch, but it the area seemed plain.

After the chooses switch, I think you should put a double spawn point. The thin sloping columns you need to jump on were irritating, and very easy to fall off of - this will turn off a lot of players with the combo of pain in the butt platforms and single spawn point. Also, maybe make them not slope so much.

Then for the race, I really didn't like the bumpy run. It was way to easy to jump on a wrong spot and end up dying. - If you are going to be chased by a big burning rock, you want to be able to jump better - maybe make them bumpy, but thin out an area for jumping. Then to make matters worse, you do all that, and get to the next area with the area of columns to jump on and when you die on the thinnest column you have to go all the way back to the beginning of the race area. You really want a spawn point in between, or widen that last column.

Noted, and thank you, hard for me to figure that stuff, because I know what's coming, and am prepared. Excellent ideas, and easily rectified.2009-02-19 18:46:00

You are right... That stuff is easy to miss. I got a lot of really good constructive criticism on my "King O Side" level. I must have gone back 10 times at least to fix things people talked about - hard spots or awkward spots...

It is very easy to be good at your own level as you played it so much.

Exactly! Quick question, if I republish, or overwrite, do I lose all my hearts, tags, comments, etc?2009-02-19 19:43:00

The only way you lose your hearts, tags etc., is if you delete the level before you republish... If you get a bunch of bad stars because people don't like it before you are done tweeking it, then that may be worth it... The first time I published my level is was way too hard, and I got a bunch of bad ratings... So I canned the level and re-worked it, and then re-published.2009-02-19 20:13:00

oh... And a good way to get plays is to play others on the F4F system and leave them feedback. They will reply and give you good advice and hopefully hearts.2009-02-19 20:14:00

I have updated my level, with some... well most of your ideas, and have republished it. It's now slightly easier, prettier, and with no MSG, heh... Hope you like it!2009-02-19 23:55:00
