More focus/larger Music Sequencers

Archive: 8 posts

Many a times I have tried to use my rusty musical talent to create a song for my levels instead of using the story ones, to be more original, but I've only found myself having little to no space to make music, I see really long intricate tracks, but the one time I try to make my own nice track, it doesn't work once. I think people would love to create intricate songs, but the limitations suck. Heck, take out some of the normal thermometer if the separate one overheats.2014-06-29 18:51:00

I think the problem with music sequencers is the amount of different instruments. If you'd only use a Saw Wave and an 8-Bit kit, the thermo would definitely be very low. If you just make a very long song with only those two instruments, i think the thermo would still stay low. I've seen lots of complicated tracks that only have a few instruments and also have just not full thermo, try using less instruments maybe?2014-06-29 19:08:00

I really hope that the sequencer can be improved. I mean, it's fantastic already but there are some things I would really love to either see added, or get improved on:

1) More reverb settings so you don't have to use the global audio tool
2) Changing Tempo during the song
3) More Instruments
4) Better ability to deal with lots of different sounds - Sometimes you lose certain instruments and things when there is 'too much' going on
5) More variety when playing with the instruments - Being able to tweak the sounds more
6) More thermo space

The thermo shoots up if you use lots of different instruments like Woutery said, but also depends on which instruments you use. The synth instruments (saw, triangle, sine and square waves for example) barely add anything on to the thermo of the song, whereas instruments that use samples of real life instruments (steel guitar, piano, percussion kits) are much more thermo heavy - so you could potentially have a sequencer with one of every kind of synth using less thermo than a similarly complicated sequencer using more complex instruments2014-07-12 20:10:00

I'm aware of that, but that's why I think it needs more thermo space. I like to use synths but not as much as I enjoy using the sampled instruments like Guitar and Piano. Granted, it is fine for the most part. However, I do think there should be a way of allowing drum, piano and the 'Ooo's/Ahh's' all in the same sequencer without taking up so much thermo space.

So while it's fine for those who prefer to make more use of synths than anything else, it isn't quite as good for those of us who prefer to use traditional instruments. It's not awful, but I do think it's something that could be improved on.

I would agree with more thermo space. I would also like to see more instruments like the for instance.2014-07-13 17:57:00

Ah yes, the most coveted instrument, the "for instance".

Not to be confused with the "for example".

...

I still do agree with expanded music sequencer functionality.
