Replace Material Function

Archive: 5 posts

Sometimes we find that we've been using too many materials and want to cut back. Or that we want to easily see what changing one material to another would look like.

We already have the ability to view all the materials used in a level, Why not just allow players a "replace all" option that would change all instances of a material in the level to a new material of the player's choice? To me, this would simplify things in that it takes FOREVER if you change your mind on what material you want to use late in a level's construction.

It's not a huge deal, but it'd be nice and I see no downside.

Yes, that's an idea I put forward for LBP2 a while ago. A sort of 'find' and 'replace'.2014-06-29 07:30:00

I agree with this. Would speed up level design, especially since when I'm creating a level without a specific theme, it always starts out as cardboard.2014-06-29 16:17:00

It would also mean that any material floating around that is no longer part of the theme but you just can't find it, can automatically be changed to match your theme. I spent hours and hours trying to find some cardboard in one of my levels and still could never find it.
