Dephysicaliser chip please.

Archive: 3 posts

I keep going on about this, partly because people expect it of me now, but in all seriousness because it's a blinking good idea. What is the point in having everything in the level with physics? It eats up that thermo for no reason at all. A simple tag system that detects the player could be set up to activate the physics of something when the player needs to interact with it, and then deactivate it when the player moves on. I understand that it causes a slight problem for mechanical things like pistons but this can be solved by attaching things like this to invisible material.

I can't see why anything that is build using glue can't still retain that property even when it's dephysicalised. If you've built a lift for instance, the dephysicaliser chip would have a setting to effect every part of that lift that's glued. It might be handy to add a square detection range for the player sensor too.

That... Seems a bit overboard.
Just have "Dephisycalise?" as a yes/no option in a material tweaker.
As soon as the tweaker is activated, it would act the same as someone using the dephysicaliser tool on it.

That's what I'm talking about. The only difference is I'm also suggesting that there is a setting that automatically dephysicalises anything that's glued (or in contact with) the dephysicalised material. It already exists in LBP but I can't remember the name of it.

It just means that if you make something very complex you won't have to activate/deactivate a dephysicaliser chip on every single piece of material you've used to create it. One chip effects the whole thing.

It would be insane not to include a dephysicaliser chip IMO. I can think of lots of other cool things you could do with it too.

Now if the developers could actually do this automatically, that would be great.
