Welcome everyone to Episode…erm…138 (you would not believe the debate we’ve had behind the scenes about the numbering of this Episode xD) of the Community Spotlight, featuring the very best of the levels in the Showcases and Recommendations forum here on Central. It’s an Episode rich in colour, creativity and humour…and the levels are pretty good too In all seriousness, we owe a big debt to the creators featured here. Their wonderful levels prove that there’s a lot of life left yet in the existing games, while we wait for LBP3 to hit later in the year.

A couple of notices. We would also like to say a hearty welcome back to Ria who is re-joining the Spotlight after an absence of a year or so. It’s great to have her back. Also, there’s no Karting Episode this time round as we hit some technical difficulties but don’t worry all the levels posted will be held over until the next Episode.

Without further ado, on with the Spotlight!

FROM THE LEVEL SHOWCASE:

http://i7.lbp.me/img/bl/9e7bbc140dbce09f4a086c980e489e5ce484afd0.pngJLA Little Brain Productionyu-kamoneCyborg who is a scientist of a Justice League of America establishes this manufacture company. Various heroes are doing special training here every day. Let`s challenge record of the heroes of a Justice League of America!! Yu-kamone is hiding in somewhere in this level.(1~4player)
After all this time away, somehow I'm not at all surprised to see yu-kamone's name still popping up on our spotlights. As on-form as ever, this level is an awesome display of fun innovative mechanics and visuals that'll make your eyes water. Bounce about on the Littre-brains around the level in a race accompanied by a pumping soundtrack. If anything was ever going to get me accustomed to wall jumping, this was it!Who said you need bounce pads to bounce and boing all over the place, now with the added effects that brains offer, I was hoping to see more of them in LBP2 and Yu-Kamone blew them up figuratively and literally. This was a no-brainer to put on my list of highly replayable levels that I can visit time and time again. The level scheme was intelligently designed to have you wall jumping to brain bashing without the wince of a migraine. Creativity comes from the mind and it is apparent Yu-kamones brain is geared for uber great platforming, that has great themes, special mechanics, and incredibly well thought out contraptions. Brains brains and more brains, Yu-Kamone blows us out of our DC style levels with super powers to bring us this. Mortal mode. just cause we are not superman and have mega powers that rock harms us, we become mortal and use our Sack wits to do this. This level was such a delight to play as I was so happy I beat it after like 1 hour then realizing im not such a super sack after all. if you have played Yu-Kamone's levels before then be ready for what he has in store for you if not go fill your que like NOW!

I realised how much I loved this level about two minutes in. I'd just finished watching a very pleasant mini-intro, was surrounded by colourful Jetsons-esque decor, including some very cutesy hints in the form of holographic posters. Suddenly, the wormholes... Oh the wormholes. Five-ate-five has taken a bag full of the things, but rather than dumping them all on the table as many of us may be tempted to, they've gone and made a masterpiece. I'm sorry, I drooled a little. Let's just say, I had loads of fun here. The gameplay is spot on, and the level made me laugh till I cried. I rarely ask for more.I don't even know how to categorize 585 anymore, maybe I will just slide him over to brilliant department. This level is spewing with retro funk that tingles sackboys senses to cause him to automatically eliminate the left, right, and down functions of the D-pad. Double Tap Up on the D-pad and that his how my sackboy's grin held from 5 seconds after plopping thru that entrance gate to the scoreboard. I think Ria almost summed up the gameplay with the handy wormholinator that executed without failure. 3 words to describe this level: Funky Cold Medinawhat a beautiful day in space, traveling around without a worry i the world. OH GAWD NO! Who ever hit my pod is gonna pay! I have been playing Five-ate-five's levels for a long time and I have enjoyed a lot of them and this one is no different. This wormhole shooting level is full of so much fun and challenge it just make me stick out my tongue and focus even more. This level is worth checking out so add it to your que like now the Aliens need to be brought to justice!I have to say that Five-ate-Five just seems to get better and better with every level he publishes. This is my favourite so far. So assured and accomplished both visually and in terms of gameplay. The level just oozes style. There’s a retro, swinging Sixties, feel to it; it’s full of bold colour, creativity and panache- just like the Sixties, in fact xD He makes inspired use of wormholes too. Just when they might have seemed a little old hat, this level brings them back into fashion with a bang. And it has that combination of platforming and puzzling that I like so much, as well. Yup, great theme, great gameplay and fun to boot. It’s a mad, mod world that I was very happy to spend some time in.

http://i0.lbp.me/img/bl/81078fc22f2776ec5057f82c5fc22224bd1fdd1d.pngPrintz Chapter 2: Pumpkins and Slippers (Part 1)rialreesThe Point & Click adventure continues! Hello? Is anyone still there? Ah well... Printz embarks on the next part of his quest, to rescue Cinderella from her abandoned mansion. ----- This level requires a certain amount of patience, and the willingness to explore. You will not finish it in under 15 minutes - I do not hold your hand (and neither does Tink, for that matter). L Stick to move the cursor, X for most functions, including movement. Enjoy! -------- Huge thanks to radio_statik for all his help!
Well, it may have been three years since the last one but it was worth the wait. Printz is back, yay! And even better, so is Tink! Such sarcasm, such ego and such grumpiness - she has got to be one of my favourite characters in the whole of LBP. I found myself clicking on items in the inventory, not for the points (though points are nice xD), but just to see what wisecracking, blistering remark she’ll come up with next. That, of course, is where the genius of the level lies, in the writing and acting. There are genuinely laugh out loud moments involving obsessive paperclips, computers who clearly have no aesthetic appreciation and Printz himself, truly a hero for the modern age. That’s not to downplay the gameplay, of course. I had fun with the puzzles, particularly the click and play elements where combining seeming oddly assorted items can produce that vital tool to get you on to the next stage. It’s intelligent, absorbing and funny and really there’s no higher praise than that, in my book, anyway.
Hooray! It's here! I remember when the first one got picked and then the teaser and now it's here! I really enjoyed coming back to the world of printz as he continues his point and click adventures with some really awesome puzzling and fantastic voice acting! It was nice to see tink once more as I missed her personality. For those who haven't played the first one yet, I suggest you do so you do not miss out on the story and some of the great virtue it has to offer that makes it stand out from the rest. You'll be meeting some very well crafted characters with quirky and neat impression as you discover them and your brain will get a kicker finding and combining items along your adventure. What are you waiting for? Go out there and start pointing and clicking at things!

http://i3.lbp.me/img/bl/a835228701ad5c2d0a45f09924d47dd8fe8fdf78.pngSLS10' s Infinite Party
SLS10
The party lasts forever in my glorious shrine to revelry. One player ascends this lofty tower - but for what purpose? Do I have something super-awesome planned?

Oh wow that's a lot of pink... Erm, I mean... PINK! SLS10's new level will thrill and delight you... and possibly cause you to blow up in a spontaneous rage once in a while... But in a good way! Using some clever tweaks on the Attract-O-Tweaker, SLS10 has come up with a really intriguing and fun gameplay mechanic that sees you attracting and swinging, jumping and bobbing, and in my case... dying. A lot. But I was smiling while I did that, so we're all set here. If you're up for a challenge, you'll love this one.
I think I will just sling shot myself over here and dang nab it, why didn't I hold L1, err guess I will happily replay this section. You know why I didn't mind replaying that section over and over again, which is contrary to what I am about to say: SL10 did a uber great job of level progression. He could have just said "fugget about it, I am just going to dive you in to some icky death defying maneuvers boomeranging around me", but he didn't. He slowly built you up and at a fantastic difficulty progression that once I got to the areas where timing was key, it seemed like a piece of cake, but in reality if he would have started me there I probably would have a controller fastened to the middle of my tv. So for that. I thank you for the awesome job you have done and for preventing me from figuratively destroying 1 tv and possibly the controller.I’m not normally a fan of attracto-gel gameplay but in this level its elastic properties are exploited with such ingenuity that I’m converted, well temporarily, anyway xD Although there’s a funny intro (numpty, indeed!) and an…erm…strange…outro, the core of this level has a certain purity to it. It’s all about the gameplay. SLS10 takes momentum as his theme and then weaves wonderful variations on it, starting with attracto gel, moving to grappling and then combining them, and all to evil purpose, of course. It may be a challenge but, as leems so rightly says, the progression is perfect so that at each stage you master *cough* the technique before moving on to the next, more demanding, test. There were a few moments when I was reminded of that bit in a Close Shave where Wallace says of Gromit “the bounce has gone from his bungee” but I battled on to a proud last place on the scoreboard. SLS10 proves again what a master of gameplay design he is.

Fragments were gathered. The invisible, transparent existence. ----------- First part of this level will carry you automatically. Please don't move. I hope you enjoy! THANK YOU!
...I'm just going to take a moment. Erm... Wait, I got this. I think I have words. I had words once... Wow. Sorry, sorry I use that word to much.... I'm just gonna stare at the screen some more and... Wow. This is art. Truly, there isn't any other way to describe this. As you find your way through this dazzling level, you may be forgiven for weeping with joy. Not that I did. At all. That was just the chilli powder in my dinner.... Ah come on don't stare at me, go play this level!
Art: what is art? Splats on the wall, the sunrise coming up over the road hurting your eyes after a night of hanging out with the bros, a jet engine? How bout living art or art that comes alive all around you, such as glowing plankton in the ocean at night reacting to a whale swimming nearby. This level made me feel like the whale swimming thru the plankton. As you progress, the beauty comes alive and surrounds you, engulfs you. A movie played at your pace. No need for rewinds or fast forwards. Just stop to pause this film and discover the beauty of simplicity meets complexity. This awesome jaw dropping level of visuals just makes everything in this world make sense like even the meaning of life deep. This great level is one of those levels that really sticks out in the community and makes it say "hey look I'm super awesome and amazing!" This great visual level really makes everything awesome with its great music to its fun game-play that really make you thing because of how well the foreground is with the level.Que this Bad-boy of a level up and play its wonders like now! A level that has finally gotten me to drop a tear from my eye. A level that is expressed with not voices or sackbots nor even advanced gameplay elements, goodness it does not not even need gameplay. Art is used at its best and it tells a story with color and splats of designer in this intrinsic world. There is barely any music or sounds in here and the silent ambiance works well with the full combination that makes you focus on the design more than anything else. Thank sack for sticker panel as it manages to bring this possible soul to the world of LittleBigPlanet, and transparency will fill the missing gaps in those needed-hearts.

Druidia: Summer Solstice Shenanigans
jaffakree
The land of Druidia must prepare for the annual influx of new druids for the Summer Soltice Festival! It's time to party!

The Summer Solstice festival has arrived and other than picking up Druid costume.. Holy cow! It just turned summer yesterday?!? Wow I did not notice that. In that case, we're gonna' do what snowman's do in summmerrrrrr... which is play LittleBigPlanet Vita - particularly this level! As you venture across this bright platformer, prepare to use the touch screen to activate gameplay elements and other neat stuff indicated by the color-coordinated sparkles. Enjoy the platformer in the fresh hot air, as it's summer!
Jaffakree and his Druidia levels never disappoint, and this is just another example why! His levels are always filled with color, music and visually amazing graphics, alongside cool score bubble combos and hidden points for those high score seekers. To top all that Jaffakree always adds to that colorful mix of lights, sounds and graphics, gameplay that uses the Vita functions to their best - a thing which is becoming quite infrequent, making this level one of your priorities now that Summer is starting!

The Power Of Three
BossVeg
Use the triangle and circle buttons to alter the environment. This is a typical puzzlement of platforming, listen to the cat. Difficulty: Medium/Hard (1P ONLY)

When I read the title of this level I instantly thought of the episode called "Power of Three" from Doctor Who. More the less, it has the same meaning as it uses three buttons that can each do something different and can still tell a powerful message. Gameplay awaits where you control everything using the triangle, circle, and the cross button to make your way through obstacles and such in some really neat ways. The cat in the level knows all... and I find it pretty interesting how there is a cat randomly put in there.
BossVeg created quite a platformer here. It revolves around a "apparently" simple idea: Controlling platforms, bounce pads and whatnot with three buttons. But it can prove rather tricky! All of that while being couched by some kind of crazy cat genious. How more awesome can a level be? Be ready to prepare sackboy for a struggle of reaching the next checkpoint all while trying to coordinate and read what BossVeg got prepared for the next room. This level is not necessarily one to classify as "Hard", but I dare you to ace this one! Prepare your reflexes, queue this level and go!

MSF: Reckoning
MrObycyek
16 March 1975. An offshore plant in the Caribbean. On the MSF Mother Base the staff are busy preparing for an upcoming UN inspection while Big Boss prepares to head to Cuba to rescue Chico and Paz. (4 JUNE 2014)

Drop right into the level and think instantly of Metal Gear Solid. It has it's own nick to offer as the experience is basically you preparing for war. The dialogue is neat and is very descriptive and the army base is one cool place to explore. Go around and talk to soldiers, ride the elevator to new heights and explore the building looking for camouflaged soldiers for extra points, and even take part in a shooting mini game for training using the front touch screen.
MrObycyek creates differently from everyone I've seen so far in LBPV. You should not enter this level expecting a platforming challenge or a puzzle level. This level is indeed full of dialogue, but it creates quite a story, that personally got me hooked and that will leave you wanting to play the next level right when it comes out! Settled in the world of MGS, this level will have you crossing an incredibly detailed ship, meeting some iconic characters (again, incredibly well crafted, not just sackbots) along the way, and giving the player side missions that can prove quite a challenge. Believe me when I tell you there are some parts in this level that are so beautiful you'll want to take a screenshot before you go. Whether you like story-driven levels or not, I'd strongly suggest you give this one a chance!

Avalon
scarybiscuit
Make your way through AVALON, a level full of eye candy graphics.

The description says it, I will say it, and I am sure many of you will agree that this is one visually amazing level to play. The luminous glow and bright colors are a feast to my eyes and some really great scenes can be found which offer a neat cinematic experience. The gameplay is balanced with the neat take on an artistically visualized level.
The description said it, Hyper above me said it, and I will repeat it like a broken CD player: The visuals in this level are mesmerizing! If you ever, ever have a doubt about if LBPV can reach LBP2 in terms of visuals, here you have it. Almost lag-less, and beautiful as finding the last cookie all of yourself. The gameplay is entertaining enough not to leave everything to the visuals, and believe me when I tell you that you won't want to leave this level unplayed folks.

Time Warp Chronicles Chapter 8: Enter the Future
JustinArt

Zero may have failed to make everybody become slaves, but he's off to the Future Age where he'll make his next move. Find that black-coated sackboy in a futuristic metropolis, but watch out for his cadres: Altia, Gargox and Lazor. This level includes two of LBPV's newest gameplay mechanics: hero cape and wall jumps.

YAY! An enjoyable series I have followed since I became a spotlighter is getting to a point where it deserves endless rewards including this well deserved spotlight! Take part in the continuing story where you are set in a future age chasing down agent zero with this fantastically executed and fun platformer overall. Take it to a new level with wall jumping and gliding with the hero cape which makes the game play better than ever! I really enjoyed this level in the series, and I can not wait to see where JustinInArt will take it next! Well there is a teaser in the end.. spoilers!
As a creator I know the struggle of having the will to make a level series. But oh man so many levels maintaining such a high quality, JustinArt deserves an applause! Episode 8 will take us to a futuristic land while in pursuit of Zero, and this time we can use the Hero Cape and the wall jumping abilities to reach our objective. More polished than most of his latest entries, Episode 8 even features a shooting minigame and a great boss battle. In my opinion, his best level in the series so far. Get this level queued already people!

Aaw, Ria, it's so lovely to have you back! Your writing skills are second to none but even better you're a great person to have back in the Vault. It's a blast spotlighting with you.

I'd just like to second what Ria said about the levels in this Episode. Occasionally I worry about the game but with levels like these I know its future is safe. I loved playing them all.
