Wipeout HD Themed Stickers coming!

Archive: 13 posts

LittleBigPlanet players eager on getting new stickers will be pleased to know that Wipeout HD? themed stickers are coming soon.

After receiving his game save back from Media Molecule, PSN user brnxblze yesterday told us about the upcoming costume items he could sneakily see in his new data, fresh from Media Molecule towers.

brnxblze has since notified us of another new item in his pop-it inventory - Wipeout HD? stickers. Nine of them infact!

The Wipeout HD? costume pack is out on Thursday this week across Japan, Europe and North America. Until now, it was thought that the pack included just the four costumes, but it's now clear that the stickers will also be available, either in with the costumes, or in a seperate pack. Could this be a Wipeout level pack? Or just an extra special costume pack?

The ?Sack it me? update on the Official PlayStation Blog tomorrow should give us the full details on just exactly what costumes, stickers and other goodies will be hitting the PSN Store on Thursday. We?re hoping for the new free Bumblebee costume, the Wipeout HD? costume and/or Sticker pack and maybe, just maybe - that Sepiroth costume wink

EDIT; Looks like the stickers come as a bonus when you get the costume pack.

Man, i'm so jealous... But yeah, too bad it's just the team stickers. Those stickers represent the teams (vehicles) which you can choose in WipEout HD.

But i wouldn't be a real dutch guy if i didn't hope this will be either free or cheap.

I gotta say that's pretty lame of the guy (brnxblze) to spill the beans after getting help from Mm. I knew about this and the exact contents of the Valentine's day pack (including the 5 materials) for quite a while before they came out and I still know about a possible costume we might be getting eventually that hasn't surfaced, but dude, they fixed my level that I had worked so hard on. I was greatful enough to keep all that to myself. This is cool news and I was excited when I figured it all out from looking through the profile they sent me back, but taking advantage of that after they actually bother to help you with your problems, very lame.2009-02-18 15:32:00

I wouldn't jump to blame or judge. Did MM actually ask that the information not be distributed openly? If they didn't, the onus is on them to make sure that information didn't get out. They could easily have made sure those icons didn't appear in the person's popit, but I'm of the opinion that either they didn't consider the possibility, or they didn't particularly care about it.

Also, while it's very considerate of them to fix people's save files... it was also their responsibility to make sure this kind of thing didn't happen in the first place.

Good point. I'm not hating the dude or anything and you're right, I guess it's Mm's own fault Anyway seems the Bumble Bee outfit has already been announced by this guy as well, so I got no more secrets to worry about revealing I guess it's just the way Mm responded to me when I had the problem, they were extremely kind and you could tell they were hard at work, so that's why I thought it best to not blurt out the announcements I found out about regardless of the fact their code was the issue in the first place. I trully believe they are doing a phenomenal job and I can just imagine how hard they work to keep their level-creating game from developping unforseeable glitches.

I'm not blaming MM either. They've shown time and time again that they really care about this game and their loyal players. Unfortunately accidents do happen, I believe there was an old (very likely made up, but true nonetheless) statistic about the number of bugs being proportionate to the number of lines of code. I wouldn't doubt for a second that LBP has millions of lines of code.

As end users, we only see the front end and never get to see the complexity behind it all. As a software developer myself, I can easily imagine the kind of complex code required to be going on behind the scenes for something as simple as correctly animating Sackboy's facial expressions, or allowing stickers and decorations to be adequately stuck to Sackboy's character model OR to the environment. Every small thing we take for granted took a considerable amount of effort and time to create.

For this reason, I'm willing to forgive MM for a lot as long as they continue to be as dedicated as they've shown. Now let's all hope DarkDedede doesn't jinx us further.
