Duplicating profile on several PS3s for teaching a workshop

Archive: 4 posts

Hey all. I am teaching a workshop in July on how to use LBP2 creatively for storytelling.
The arts organization I am working with will supply 3 PS3s and I will bring my own, but I realized that the 3 new PS3s will not have all the materials/objects in LBP2 that each student will need for the workshop.

Is there a way to temporarily load my own profile (with all collected LBP2 materials/objects) onto each of the PS3s?
Will this work? I assume I'd have to not log onto the LBP2 servers with more than one of them at a time, but will I hit any other stumbling blocks?
Can anyone point to info on how to do this or explain?

Thanks!

yeah, you could do that. Back up your profile to the XMB, and pop a usb stick in the ps3. Navigate to the profile save under.. game data i think, and copy the save to the usb. When you get the the systems you'll be using, load them on before starting the game, then play through the first five minutes on each system, and restore the profile from the save. you may hit a block with DLC, not certain, but you should at least have some basic materials etc for the students to work with.

sounds awesome btw!

EDIT: sorry, just in case you're not aware, you back up your profile in the pod, by click START, scroll down to profile options, and back up profile from there. hate to teach you to suck eggs, if you already know this, but just to be sure

Thanks Rialrees. No egg sucking danger at all. I had no idea, TBH. I'll give it all a try. Thanks!2014-06-15 08:58:00

Thanks. I tried this and I'm getting a "corrupt data" message when trying to restore from the save which I copied via USB. I've read elsewhere that this can be due to a corrupt HD in the systems to which I am trying to copy. Looking further into this, but if anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Okay, got it working. Wasn't connected to internet, so it hadn't updated system files needed to see the newer profile. All is good. Thanks!
