i think that the idea of changing the header each time we change our directory inside the site is ok but the images are to heavy.... can you put them lighter with more compression??? depending on the conection i use i get different download times and sometimes they last to long to load... | 2009-02-18 11:40:00 Author: misterwonderloo Posts: 164 |
Most are around 300k the only one thats bloated is http://www.lbpcentral.com/images/header/rotate/leather-monkeys.png at 1.6mb | 2009-02-18 13:13:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
300ks are too much in my opinon..... they slow down the site download engine a lot........ | 2009-02-18 13:16:00 Author: misterwonderloo Posts: 164 |
Unless it's been adjusted, I believe the old skin (LBP Glassy) which is changed to by going into the "Edit options" of the User CP does not have a rotatable banner up the top. That could be one way to handle the problem. | 2009-02-18 14:52:00 Author: Elbee23 Posts: 1280 |
300k just for the header? That's crazy. I used to work on a site where the entire home page was required to be less than 200. That should definitely be changed. | 2009-02-18 15:30:00 Author: Risen Posts: 251 |

The admins should compress them and save them as jpegs instead of pngs. http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/8036/leathermonkeys1bmw3.jpg (http://imageshack.us) http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/leathermonkeys1bmw3.jpg/1/w936.png (http://g.imageshack.us/img10/leathermonkeys1bmw3.jpg/1/) That's about 70kb now. | 2009-02-18 16:36:00 Author: Winston-Smith Posts: 81 |

If it's bothering you so much then scroll down to the bottom of the page, click on the drop-down list and select lbp glassy instead of default style. | 2009-02-18 19:58:00 Author: S-A-S--G-U-N-R Posts: 1606 |
If it's bothering you so much then scroll down to the bottom of the page, click on the drop-down list and select lbp glassy instead of default style. The glassy style still has massive (300Kb+) PNGs at the top. Having them so large is a waste of server space and bandwidth. Mobile is the only one that doesn't have images, but it looks God-awful. | 2009-02-18 20:15:00 Author: Winston-Smith Posts: 81 |

Oh, I thought the problem was the program cycling through the images caused it to load slower. And yes, mobile can't even take images or anything, it's for mobile internet. | 2009-02-18 20:20:00 Author: S-A-S--G-U-N-R Posts: 1606 |
I've re-formatted all of the headers; the largest is about 71KBs. I've been able to preserve the quality as well, so the page should load much faster now. | 2009-02-21 10:04:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |
