LBPCentral requests/comments

Archive: 5 posts

Hello, I wasn't sure where else to post this, so mods can move it if they deem it should be.

I have a couple of requests for lbpcentral .... ergonomics...

Bring back the wiki! The karting wiki was an excellent tool for figuring out weird aspects to certain tools. It was the only one that actually had any information. Now it doesn't load or anything, blank page. I don't know if this was intentional or how long it's been like this, or even if it's just me or not. It would help new builders and veterans alike! It would make the tutorials much easier to make and read by being able to link specific gadgets pages and pictures, and check their settings and such without having to wait till we're able to log in and check from the game itself. This is big!

Have editing posts have a notification on the forum pages. If anything, allow the recent activity note to be updated by recent edits as well. I've seen it requested by mods to edit your post with your review instead of adding a new post (to save space I believe), but this comes with the caveat that no one can see that there's been any real activity on the thread. If we post to help someone but don't have all the information yet, then when we edit our original post, the OP will have no idea anything has changed or any new info has been added since they last looked. Similar to editing our reviews in, it just looks like a dead thread unless you go in and go through every post taking note of what they were when you first saw them. I feel like I waste my time updating and giving reviews through edits if the OP has no way of knowing that anything has changed. What's the point of posting if it goes unread?

Anyone else have any recommendations to better LBPCentral life?

As far as the Wiki, there is already a thread about it. The future is bleak. Whoever hacked our site, toasted the directories it existed in. If any data is still in the database, it will be a nightmare to hand connect it to new pages. ...plus, the creator of the add on we used for the wiki has gone on to other things. Not sure if there are any remaining backups prior to that. Our long time admin CC has been silent and unreachable for over 6 months.

Not sure that edits can be treated that way. I will take a look, but cannot promise anything. Not sure why you can't post an update in the thread if it isn't a double post.. or really a true update. The thread will be bumped.

It's not that we can't make another reply post, but that sometime last year an admin requested to add our reviews via the edit tool in our original "Queued!" posts. Additionally, if we make a thread and have to go back and fix some names, touch up info to be more precise, or add pictures to better illustrate, it seems silly to post all that in a new post or make a post simply saying "updated!" to get a bump for people that are waiting for clarification or new info.

If it can't be done, its a shame but no big deal. Would just be nice.

A real shame about the wiki. Hope its is eventually able to be fixed!

Not sure who that was, but I have no problem with your review being a new post, unless it is quite soon and end up a double post.

I just don't see that ability and that would mean ANY edit, the thread would be bumped. As much as you can see that as a good thing, I can see other abusing that. Basically doing what we frown on by those doing a double post on their threads. Sorry.. I just don't see this happening.

However.. once I return, I will revisit the wiki and see what I can do. I will try my best, but I cannot promise anything.
