I don't have a PS4 yet, but should hopefully have one by the time November comes around. I find myself looking at PS4 prices more and more, tempting me to get one right away.... but I'm not quite done with my PS3 yet. 2014-06-12 14:41:00

Am gonna go with PS3 version. Long as there isn't a big difference between the 2 versions of LBP3... And there doesn't seem to be. *mew

I will however likely pick up the PS4 version also of LBP3 for cheap once I do get a PS4... Like maybe sometime late 2015. xD

I'm keeping my options open until November. I don't have a PS4 now but a Last Guardian release date might change that. If the PS4 version really requires PS+ to go online I'll probably go for the PS3 version.

Although, I suppose I could get the PS4 version and just never publish anything. Not very different from my LBP2 track record, really.

PS3 will definitly will be watered down graphically, but considering thay saying you can play PS4 made level in PS3 it should not in gameplay for compatibility reason, i think only thing to consider is touch controls, PS4 controller light and in controller speaker that PS3 missing, they might be optional for PS4, like Move levels

Ha! I could only dream of having an 80GB PS3. Mine is the Fat 40GB. It's going strong though. I routinely vacuum the vents and have it running in an open area where plenty of air can get under and around it. I'll get LBP3 for that but will be saving for a PS4. Maybe by Christmas I can get one.2014-06-13 02:40:00

Vacuums produce a lot of static, it's a Bad Idea to use them to clean electronics.

I know this is only a small sample but it is very interesting to note that the number of people getting this on ps4, or investing in a ps4 for this, is nearly 2 to 1. Sounds like this would have truly moved systems if it had been exclusive to the ps4.

Anyway, ps4 version for me.

@Evret, they don't even acknowledge the ps3 version existing on Sony's site so I wouldn't count on it

It really depends how different the two versions will be (probably not very). I was going to get the PS4 version but now it seems like it will just be an upscaled port that isn't significantly more powerful in create mode, so what's the point? If I end up getting a PS4 for other reasons I'll probably pick it up for it as well.2014-06-16 00:35:00

PS4, I just hope it isn't crippled by the PS3 port.
I hope I'm wrong about this, but having the same build limits as LBP2 seemed odd in their announcements for PS4.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I believe someone pointed that out in error. When asked about the thermometer size, the dev/pokesperson responded that they wanted to retain backwards comparability, so the thermometer would "be about the same". He did not say the same as LittleBigPlanet 2, and the way he phrased it made it clear that he meant that the thermometer for the PS3 and PS4 versions of LBP3 would be the same, not that thermometer in LBP3 would be the same as LBP2's thermo.

EDIT:

In response to the thread, I was sorta on the fence about PS4, but LBP3, along with other titles at E3, sold me on buying one.

Also, I'm excited to take advantage of the PS4 exclusive features like the Share button, tracking bar, and the touchpad.

PS4, not that it really matters due to both versions being mechanically limited to the PS3's capabilities. I really hope there was some miscommunication and that there is no PS3 version. No ill will to you guys who can't upgrade yet, but if they are going to go next gen with it at all, they should go all out and give us something truly next gen and not just a prettier version of a PS3 game.2014-07-05 03:55:00

I'm going to get a PlayStation 4 for LittleBigPlanet 3. It is because my PlayStation 3 Bluray laser broke and cannot read Bluray disks, which is what all retail or physical PS3 games are on.

Edit: My brother James has purchased a PlayStation 4 for NBA 2K14 but one of his controllers broke and we only have one controller and a PlayStation Vita to use with. I will purchase LittleBigPlanet 3 for PS4 and PlayStation Plus.

You should get it just on PS4, from what I know you will be able to cross play systems with your friends, you will have all of the features because you are on PS4 and you wont have to buy another copy

I bought a ps4 to play lbp3 on its full capacity. I dont want to cry in a awe level that needs the touch pad to keep going.

Also I'm pretty sure it will be a better experience to play a new game in a new system and fell all the rush that i felt in lbp2.

If you want you can add me on ps4 only... sorry i will be playing since day one. Because i pre-order the game too.

I'm crossing my fingers real hard on this one. As far as I know, no official word has been given on the matter, so I'm not as confident that it will be cross-play. Though, there have been some cross-play games no? Though I think they were cross-play between PS3 and Vita. I'm trying to remember which ones...

EDIT: Google to the rescue! So a good number, and I think a Sony owned title like LBP is even more likely to get it (looking at the list, lots of Sony properties like Motorstorm, Wipeout, Battle Royale, Rachet & Clank...) I'm more confident now that it will be cross-play, but I'm still really hoping for confirmation soon.

Cross-Play Games (http://www.playstationtrophies.org/forum/vita-games-discussion/209401-ps-vita-ps3-ps4-cross-platform-titles.html)

A-Men Assault Armies in Japan
Alien Breed
Backgammon Blitz (Vita and PS4)
Dead or Alive 5
Deception IV: Blood Ties
Dragon's Crown
Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends (PS4/Vita/PS3)
Everybody's Golf 6 (Minna no Golf 6 (Chinese & English Version)
Hustle Kings
MotorStorm RC
Natural Doctrine
Playstation All Stars Battle Royal
Ragnarok Odyssey ACE
Ratchet & Clank: Q-Force (Full Frontal Assault in USA)
Spelunky
Street Fighter x Tekken
Terraria
Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate
Wipeout HD/ Wipeout 2048/ 2048 DLC

This needs to be played on the PS4 because 1080p is going to make the textures pop, 1080p is going to make the effects wonderful and 1080p is going to make the costumes sing ... Did I mention 1080p? Anyway, here's an incentive:

Dualshock 4 is so much better than the Dualshock 3. I mean, you can use the DS4 on the PS3, but it isn't ideal.

U know to be honest, I thought that the PS4 version wouldn't be worth it. But when I saw the voice actor reveal vid, I saw that the graphics were AMAZING. plus infinite levels, and better performance, PS4 all the way! :hero:

Same for me, lol

Free online play is one thing I can think of.

plus infinite levels

I can't remember reading that part?

I'd love to play it on PS4, but it's way too expensive here. So I'll have to stick with PS3 instead. Also the PS+ online play thing is ridiculous. So for now PS3 all the way.

No PS+ fee to go online was mentioned already.
Saves you the price of a PS4, if you don't have one yet.
I suppose the PS3 uses less electricity because the PS4 needs to calculate more pixels for 1080p. I've seen figures that suggest that on average PS4 uses almost 3 times the power of a PS3 Slim, but it depends on how taxing the game is, really.
LBP2 detects and offers to import profile changes in LBP1, I assume LBP3 will do the same for LBP2 profile changes. You'll have to do this manually on the PS4 unless they patch some sort of cloud saving into LBP2.
I don't know if there will be cross-play, but if not: judging by the polls here a lot of core fans will make the switch, but we don't know yet about the larger player base, so maybe the PS3 version will be busier. But that's just guessing.

Wow, came up with more than I expected. But it mostly boils down to saving money.

I guess you can say that but...

-FFXIV has cross play with PC players, just saying it's possible.

-I plan to get my PS4 on a holiday event where the price drop is great, and regardless everyone one day will be using a Ps4 besides Ps3.

-I don't know about the file import and how you know of it... but I'm pretty sure this will be taken care of I hope.

Only true benefit for Ps3 is no PS+ requirement, but for me I'm always subscribed so I'm fine.

I was just talking about if you've played LBP1 and start up LBP2 it sees from the LBP1 save file that your profile was changed and asks if you want to import the profile into LBP2. It's fair to assume LBP3 in PS3 will look at your LBP2 profile in the same manner, but the PS4 won't be able to see your LBP2 profile because it's not on there. Like I said, maybe they'll have a cloud solution or something, we'll just have to wait and see. It's not that big a deal anyway, I was just trying to make answer your question as thoroughly as I could.2014-10-14 22:25:00

Okay so me and my friend are both getting LBP 3 this November

but we got into a argument by which console we are getting it on

I told him i was getting it on PS3 yet he argued that i should get it for the PS4

He argues that PS4 has better frame rate and better graphics whilst i told him that graphics dont matter and framerate doesnt matter. I also explained to him that 720p is still good today and that as long as its good as the ps4 version it doesn't matter.

Now he changes his mind and wants to buy it on PS3

So are you guys getting LBP 3 for the PS3 or PS4? :

Write down what console you are getting it for and if you have a reason why you are getting it that for console then you can explain your reasoning.

It's much better on the PS4. I managed to download some of my DLC from other people's planets today and the spacesuit is so much clearer and detailed. I loaded PS2 back up on my PS3 and I really couldn't go back.2014-10-27 13:27:00

I was wondering if that was new. I wasn't sure whether it just wasn't noticeable before.

Never saw it in LBP2... didn't notice it when I was playing the Beta on PS3... instantly saw it on PS4 though.

The HDness is really a big step up from PS3. Not sure if you can argue that it's worth buying a PS4 for.. adding recording and such is a pretty big selling point on top of that though.

And Shareplay. My goodness that is incredible. I sat back and watched someone test drive Unfinished Swan yesterday and it felt surreal. With a mic, you could watch an experienced creator sort a problem out for you while he is telling you all about why he's doing what he's doing ... and they can get those ACES for you too! It will be like having your own personal Comphermc.

Graphics do matter. You cannot deny that the PS4 is better than the PS3, and I wouldn't say 720p is still good today" as now some youtube videos are uploaded in 4k resolution (2160p). However, I simply wouldn't argue a game based on its graphics and frame rate.

Is the game honestly good to play on PS3? I am not into buying a new console just for a game, especially since I have a platform that can run the game already, but I need to know whether it's a worthy buy in the end. I don't want a sort of "PS4 is SOOO MUCH BETTER" answer, I'm looking for a factual, unbiased opinion on whether I should get the game, despite the fact that I do not and I will not own PS4.2014-11-02 09:12:00

I do not want a comparison between the two versions. I just want to know whether it's playable on PS3.

Thats part of the comparison. You get a look at the frame rate, how often it dips, how far it can dip and how long those dips can last.2014-11-02 09:22:00

There are a few PS4 features like the level trailers and create with the touch pad, but the core game should be the same. There was only one story level in the game so it's hard to draw conclusions from that, but most community levels played fine on a PS3. The thermometer should keep all levels playable on both systems, but we all know the thermometer isn't perfect. Some of those levels that really drop the framerate on PS3 might play fine on a PS4, so it's possible there will be some PS4-only community levels. But I personally don't think it's worth getting a PS4 for just one game.2014-11-02 13:41:00

I mostly got the PS4 for better frame rates. The resolution is great, especially for promotion of a level, but its very important to me not only how a game looks but how it feels as well. Frame rates make so much of a difference; I started reducing activity in my LBP2 levels just to achieve it. Now with the PS4, it seems like I can do whatever I want to and still have good FPS. That worth the investment for me.

I do not want a comparison between the two versions. I just want to know whether it's playable on PS3.

The PS4 and PS3 beta version were both as playable as each other.

I think that the best analogy is it's like watching a movie on DVD vs Blu-ray. Both are as watchable as each other, but the Blu-ray looks and sounds better, and has more interactive features.

The actual movie is the same, it's just the overall 'experience' isn't.

Not everyone want's to pay more for the added experience a home cinema can bring, and that's a perfectly valid decision.

My thoughts on the matter; I've been playing LBP2 since it came out, so I don't think I'd still be firing up a (working) PS3 in 4-5 years time just for LBP3 (no other new games will likely be on PS3 by then), so the choice is get a PS4 now, or buy a new copy of the game when you DO upgrade to a PS4.
