Best and Worst Disney movies
Archive: 8 posts
I've seen threads from other forums about the best and worst animated features with subjective opinions. I'm beginning to wonder about what disney movies you like or not. I'm specifically looking for opinions on the 53 animated features of Disney, but Pixar is not excluded from this thread. So what is your favorite movie by Disney? And what is your least favorite? You can also explain what your favorite and least favorite Pixar films are. | 2014-06-12 07:08:00 Author: Apple2012 Posts: 1408 |
There are plenty of Disney titles that just don't reach a classic status, simply because they're just ok. Titles like Home on the Range, Atlantis, Treasure Planet, Hercules. Theyre alright, but not Disney classics. Alice in Wonderland probably has my number 1 spot. I love it. | 2014-06-12 10:32:00 Author: slippi Posts: 34 |
For a while, Frozen was at my #1 spot. I may still have it there, but after being overplayed and overhyped, I'm beginning to think it's overrated. I'm gonna agree with the popular opinion on Lion King and Beauty and the Beast, both being at #2 and #5 respectively. At the same time, I disagree with the popular opinion on Oliver and Company. Even if it's not one of the best films, it's still a great film. I just reviewed it in my blog and put it at my #6 spot. I may post my top ten later. On a Pixar note, I can label all 14 of them in order from best to worst. I'm going to do it later too. | 2014-06-12 13:50:00 Author: Apple2012 Posts: 1408 |
Oh boy. Okay, top 10 list of the animated Disney movies up to and including Frozen: 1.) Beauty and the Beast 2.) The Little Mermaid 3.) Disney's Hercules 4.) The Hunchback of Notre Dame 5.) The Lion King 6.) Pocahontas 7.) Wreck-it Ralph 8.) Aladdin 9.) The Sleeping Beauty 10.) Snow White and the Seven Dwarves (Frozen is good and I see why it's appealing to many, but when all is said and done, it's mostly memorable because it works as a way of reconstructing the traditional Disney formula better than it works as a movie made in its own right. The fact that Frozen supports themes like feminism and is an actually character-driven movie where the characters are actual characters with their own flaws are something old Disney movies always did, but since it has been otherwise lacking from the recent input it's kind of looked up to like a miraculous savior of modern cinema landscape, unjustly maybe, but at least the movie supports good themes. In a nutshell, Frozen is a modernization of the old Disney-princess formula, but apart from that it's only good as a movie.) Pixar movies? Well... Up, Wall-E, all three Toy Story-movies, Ratatouille, The Incredibles, Monsters Inc and Finding Nemo are all timeless classics, but the rest have been either just very good or indifferent. | 2014-06-12 14:57:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |
I saw both Frozen and Oliver and Company two days ago. It's safe to say that I enjoyed Oliver and Company more. Not only it had better characters and better music, but when I read reviews on Frozen and how people think the film is rushed, it made me believe that Disney was still recovering after the last decade when they were doing bad. Before the 90's, they were already recovered completely by just one movie. Yeah, Oliver and Company didn't do as good, but I like the movie and it lacked some of the flaws that Frozen had. So here is my top ten: #1 - Oliver and Company #2 - The Lion King #3 - The Little Mermaid #4 - The Hunchback of Notre Dame #5 - Beauty and the Beast #6 - Frozen #7 - The Rescuers Down Under #8 - Fantasia (1940) #9 - Pinocchio #10 - Aladdin As for my Pixar films, here is all 14 of them in which ones I liked or disliked: #1 - Toy Story 2 #2 - Toy Story 3 #3 - Toy Story 1 #4 - Wall-E #5 - Up #6 - Finding Nemo #7 - Cars #8 - Monsters Inc #9 - Monsters University #10 - Cars 2 #11 - Brave #12 - Ratatouille #13 - A Bugs Life #14 - The Incredibles | 2014-06-16 16:11:00 Author: Apple2012 Posts: 1408 |
For some reason I just love Frozen so much. Definitely my fav. Disney movie. I love all of them though. Actually I believe The lion King is slightly overrated. Not that i'm saying Frozen is not, but people seem to praise the lion king's fabolous story so much when it is clearly based in Hamlet. Not that Frozen isn't based in some tale but... Just my opinion. I love Frozen. Don't wish to argue with anyone. I love all of Diseny's movies. The only ones I truly hated were pixar's Cars 1 & 2 | 2014-06-17 06:13:00 Author: yugnar Posts: 1478 |
Top ten: Sword in the Stone Alice in Wonderland Lady and the Tramp Tron Fantasia Little Mermaid Aladdin Snow White Pinocchio Cinderella While people say Bambi made them cry, it was Fox and the Hound that got me... they just wanted to be friends. Also, Jungle Book isn't bad (particularly in terms of animation) but it really rubs me the wrong way. The sickly green/yellow colours and annoying songs do my head in. God, make it stop. Remember those holograms on Disney tapes? They fascinated me as a kid. Sometimes they were more entertaining than the movie. | 2014-06-17 15:57:00 Author: Ayneh Posts: 2454 |
