To answer your question, yes and no. It really depends on how your creature is setup. Let me explain. Yes, you can definitely do what you're trying to do. However emitting the creature may provides some challenges. We'll start at the beginning. The block that your mag key is attached to can in NO WAY be attached to your creature. If it is attached at all (glued, bolt, piston, rope, etc.) the piece will disappear along with the rest of the monster when killed. Once you connect something to the piece with the brain on it, it is considered part of the monster. However, if your key was just sitting on top of the monster, it would be fine. For instance, if you monster was in the shape of an O and you placed the magnetic key inside the O, but did not attach it in anyway to the monster, just placed it inside it, when the monster died, he'd drop the key. When emitting the monster, you'll probably want to capture it with the key knowingly not attached to the monster at all. I doubt that emitting it will make a difference, but just be careful when capturing the monster.

I hope this helps you out! Again, in short, just be sure that the block the key is on is in no way attached to the monster. If you do that, you'll be fine. Let me know if this doesn't work out for ya.
