MM teaching another lesson?

Archive: 14 posts

In case you havent noticed, Media Molecule tries to teach a lesson to all LBP players so they can be inspired to make awesome and unfoolish levels. For example, their first level pack, which came with LBP standard, taught a lesson about taking other peoples objects and using them in their own levels (The Collector represents people who take other peoples stuff and uses it as an object in their own level). And in the MGS level pack, they try to teach people that trophy levels on LBP are a bad idea because it's cheating and not earning trophies. So i expect further level packs to teach us a lesson as well. Does anyone have a guess on what they will teach next?2009-02-18 01:04:00

A good spanking to all them H4Hers would be rightfully appropriate!2009-02-18 02:02:00

Barret- "Oh no sepheroth is publishing H4H levels at an alarming rate... Kill the ruby weapon and stop him"

hmm sounds kinda lame... I'd still play it though.

until a new "problem" becomes as overwhelming as H4H, they probably won't be teaching any new lessons2009-02-18 02:10:00

no they are definitely going to call out on H4H, because the main reason behind it is because they want to get the create trophy... Simple eh? well that means that doing H4H is Nearly the same thing as the trophy levels, this is just in a different form. Got it? Good. I think they will do a lesson on this.

Cheers!

I really hope they would teach all those h4hers a lesson. I find it really annoying when people just place a comment on mine and others levels saying for example: "h4h heart author". Sometimes I wonder if they even play people's levels or just click on any level they find and place a h4h comment on it.2009-02-18 09:28:00

I've seen plenty of levels with more hearts than plays so that is definitely the case. Not much we can do about it though except continue to make good levels and ignore the time wasters.

they prolly wont get taught a lesson because most of them dont even buy the level packs they just rely on friends to buy it for them so they can download it or play along with them

I GOT A NEW IDEA!! When people put comments saying h4h, follow it with a "I do not participate in H4H" thats what i started doing

I stopped caring about the H4Hers a long time ago. If you consider your heart: play ratio a competitive sport, you will only be sorely disappointed in the long run.

Hearts...plays...ratings...tags.... it's all meaningless. Hearts can be begged for, plays are dependent on advertising & theme, ratings are grossly inadequate at estimating quality, and tags are speculative.

When I create I strive for a very simple goal: impressing people, which comes out on my comments page. I like to see my heart: play ratio above 10% and 4-star ratings, but I generously acknowledge how little meaning that has.

I say make levels you are proud of. The more effort you put in, the better. Having one person tell you they idolize your talents is far more rewarding than half a million plays on trendy garbage.

I definitely agree on that one.

My oversized boss level "Danmaku Rave" has at the moment exactly 596 plays, and 30 hearts, and 3 stars.

I havent the foggiest idea as to wether or not that's a good ratio or whatever.

Dont really care, either.... I made that level to challenge myself, and as such it's too hard for many players out there. But that's fine. Some just arent gonna like it.

But it's the actual comments and such that I like getting; I got alot of comments and feedback on that thing, and it was spotlighted.... and that's really all I needed. It's definitely inspired me to make more levels like it in the future (though I havent started yet).

But do others think this way? Of course not.

They just want those ****ed trophies....

I played a level the other day that was hilarious. You were a newly pubished level and you had to atake out all these H4H'ers who all had some things to say xD
It was AWESOME!

Anyways, I think the next lesson will be about not using so much dark matter! :@

Hey I'm getting good with that! My latest creation uses almost no structural dark matter at all

To think that it took me almost 3 months to truly master the glue tool...

Maybe they'll talk about the prize levels and how all the good levels seem to end up with 3 stars and all the prize and h4h levels get 5... That's at least what i want them to bring up... but it's probably not gonna happen...
Good night...

I'm with Marklin. Maybe they'll do something truly astounding and make the moral of the story to "get a clue" and stop trashing good levels, or failing to understand why one thing is good and another is not. It'd be a big interactive debate on the nature of objective and subjective worth.

lol, yeah right... that'd be a failure of suicidal proportions in sales and fun right there.
